Modern systems are not very welcoming for this one. Look for "DisciplesGL_1.90" or "Disciples Wrapper v1.90" on moddb. It's simple fix with that. Small Advice. If your cpu goes full tilt within the wrapper check different sub-options from top ribbon (when running in windowed mode). Clicking "cold cpu" should solve that. Wrapper also comes with some upscaling and game speed options which is a cool bonus. With that the game has ton of fun to offer in pretty compact package. The only shame is that there aren't many custom maps to download for it. At least good ones. You are better off staying with what's in the package. On sale for 5 buck and below it's a steal.

In my private ranking Disciples 2 is just behind Heroes of Might and Magic 3. In some aspects Disciples 2 is even better - it has more interesting and sophisticated campaign. I would say that both games are quite similar. Yes, there are certain differences, but... The atmosphere, graphics, music, setting, gameplay, one more round syndrome - everything these things bind you on a long time to the PC. Disciples 2 is like mirror reflection of Heroes 3. I mean that Heroes 3 is heroic fantasy TBS, and Disciples 2 is dark fantasy TBS. That's the main difference. Heroes 3 is like D&D while Disciples 2 is like Warhammer. It depends only from you, from your mood which universe you prefer. I think that both titles perfectly complement. Like I said - they are mirror reflections. It's huge disaster that such talented game developers - New World Computing and Strategy First - had to collapse. All because of money. So, many people complain that this game it's not working on Win 10. For me it's working without any patch. Some points of this game are very obvious, like the graphics, art and music, and some are a bit hidden. In the beginning it will seem like it has no depth, that it's a easy to play TBS without many things to do later on. Some things are true, like the fact that it's very easy to play. You dont have tones of buttons, tones of features, tones of buildings, tones of spells. But regarding the depth, oh thats totally wrong. Each faction it's very different and yet the game it's extremely balanced. The closest game that i could think of when i compare this game it's StarCraft. Compared to Age of Empires it has only 3 factions, not too many upgrades, minimalistic with just a few units that can be selected at a time but the gameplay offers endless possibilities, allows you to create brilliant tactics, the story it's very well made and overall it's a complete package of ultra polished content. It's a must play for any TBS fan and the GOG release it's great, for me, at least.
