This isn't how GOG used to do business.
While this is an astounding achievement, GOG acquiring the license to sell some of the Best Old Games that is... It isn't looking as nice, or as professional, as it would, back in the day. Remember an era, when entire, complete games, used to arrive here? Remember the good old extras, that used to be nicely piled up goodies, the perfect companion to a classic release? GOG seems to have completely forgotten, about the glorious past. The love, the care, that extra touch of offering something unique for us, its dedicated customers, supporters and fans, to savor. Alas, this is the case no more... Diablo standalone, it is. The absence of Hellfire, the one and only expansion pack, is really sound. That very game, from which Diablo 2 borrowed gameplay mechanisms (running), elements (new chars like Barbarian, Monk, Bard), item types (runes/traps/bombs), even dungeon types (crypt inspired act 1 rogue monastery from diablo 2, nest inspired maggot lair in diablo 2). Blizzard with its saltiness, arrogance and hate, forcibly separated us, collectors and gamers, from a gem of the past, denying us a complete package, the whole experience. Hellfire's precense alone, would have been enough, to circumbent certain issues of vanilla Diablo; such as absence of other difficulty modes, in single player format! Somebody who already owns the game legit, would need incentive to buy it twice, or thrice. An incomplete package, at a steep price, without even the Soundtrack present inside it, isn't helping much, towards that direction... Hopefully, GOG will return to its roots and treat games, especially living legends such as this one, with the love & respect they so much deserve. In its current state, it honestly leaves much, much to be desired!
