10/10 for fans, 7/10 for everyone else

This game is not perfect but it if you like that kind of games, it's a bull's eye. I love cRPG games. I love stealth games. I love dystopian science fiction. I love games with story that makes you like "I just NEED to unravel all these things". A fair score for Deus Ex: Mankind Divided would be like 7/10. Add 1 if you like Deus Ex series. I do. Add 1 if you like stealth games. I do. (although stealth is just one of many ways of playing DX:HR). Add 1 if you like a good dystopian science-fiction. I do. For me personally it's 10/10, despite some flaws. Biggest of them is that the game story-wise feels like a demo. Sure, the story is good, but there are HUNDREDS of small things and leftovers showing that what we see is probably about 50-60% of what this game was initially designed. There are so many characters, items, places, dialogues, plots, even quests - that feel like "oh my God this is sooo great, where do I move this plot forward? wait what, no, please, no, don't tell me there is nothing more here about that plot..." :( Anyway, when I played this game it was a great experience. It's Deus Ex: Human Revolution improved in nearly all possible ways, except the lenghth and richness of the story. Oh - and let's keep in mind that the game was sabotaged by the publisher, Square Enix. They hurried it's release (forcing cuts in the game's content and story), forced micro-transactions in a single-player game (which made an extremely bad PR on launch) and forced use of Denuvo (which was the sole reason I didn't buy the game before - only now on GoG DRM free release). On top of that these noobs at Square Enix blame everyone but not themselves for "disappointing income" from this game and instead of taking lesson and releasing a sequel, they froze the whole Deus Ex series... Seriously, that's a clear sabotage for me.

Cyberpunk 2016

With a title like that I'm sure not to attract too much unwarranted hate, right? In all seriousness though, Deus Ex: Mankind Divided is, on the surface, Cyberpunk 2077 made four years earlier. And that is part of what makes it so good - it met or exceeded the goals of CP2077 long before that title got it's legendary (and some would say overhyped) E3 2018 trailer. DE:MD features many of the same base gameplay loops as Cyberpunk: Augments, hub world featuring many branching paths with fixed main missions, and a world that branches out from ours about sometime in the 1990s. That's where the similarities stop. Deus Ex has always been a slow-burn detective game that incorporates conspiracy theories into the narrative and that trend does not stop here. The language feels more...mature in the Deus Ex series; not relying on too much in-game neo-speak or expletives to convey an alien society that feels too much like our own. The world has moved on from the Aug Incident - a mass broadcast signal that caused most - if not all - augmented people to go insane and commit wanton acts of violence to anyone near. Society has thus largely rejected mechanical augmentation technology - and those who still carry it. Make no mistake; you are not the hotshot able to roam around Prague with those around you envying your augments. You are shunned by almost every civilian, the police will give you a hard time and, yes, you have to ride in the back of the train. Why did society rapidly reject augmentation when it was on the verge of making such procedures as common as dental checkups? How are the pro-aug terrorists able to carry out their terrible acts? Who is pulling the strings? Can you ride the front car without that f***ing kid staring at you? I'm not trying to bash CP2077 too hard in my review; it's a fine game as long as you go in knowing what it is. Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, however, is best WITHOUT such caveats. It is an excellent title whose only crime is it's abrupt end.

Base game is great DLC requires Galaxy

As of May 1st, 2020 The game installs and plays fine, its the same as the base game from Steam, It even has the same Steam DRM, but they used some coding magic to make the DLC unlock with Galaxy. Deus Ex: Mankind Divided is what you are buying here. the "Digital Deluxe Edition" is behind DRM that requires an installed and authenticated GOG Galaxy client to unlock the DLC. You don't need to be online just have an authenticated Galaxy account running on your machine. The card says nothing about this at all so be warned. That said at this price its a steal and hopefully down the road they will fix this issue. A proper fix exists at the moment and GOG just needs to go get it. So should you buy it? YES! It's a fantastic game its more fleshed out then Human Revolution and it follows the story over really well. Do you need the DLC to get the full game? Absolutely not! 2 are stand-alone stories with no tie into the main game... The one that fleshes out only 1 character in the game is Criminal Past and while not required at all it is just more content, also the best of the 3. Each DLC is about 3-5 hours except Criminal Past which is about 10ish hours based on casual playing. So again if you liked Human Revolution they yes buy this game and hope GOG fixes the DLC down the line for sweet DRM free gaming goodness. If not you truly are not missing anything by not having the DLC. And on the plus side its only $2 more so take the chance GOG can get the proper fix that exists right now and come back with a no GOG Galaxy required unlock! No matter what you'll love this game, its a unforgettable gaming experience!

Give me Deus Ex

While not being perfect it improves on many aspects of HR and has some fresh ideas which isn't that easy for a game with such a long history. We get new augs and a twist to their usage that they could have made even more extreme. The graphics are really great. The gameplay mechanics' changes are hit and miss, I would prefer it more old-school than the "route to cover" system. The story isn't the best and is cut short but it keeps you intrigued throughout. It could also use a bit more optimization. The AI is good. The music is just best ever for me. The shooting and the action as well. In the end we get an experience very true to both the first Deus Ex and HR which rewards exploration, walking off the beaten track and messing with own mechanics. I am very satified, just please.. give me MORE Deus Ex soon. How about a remake of the old ones? And people, please - stop complaining on companies being greedy (yeah, that's new) and buy this game, especially at this laughable price - and you will see its way better than Cyberpunk.

Crash central

The game is actually really, really good, which makes it all the more annoying and heartbreaking that I encountered several game breaking bugs within the first 5 hours of play. Game crashes if I click customise on a weapon in my inventory. Game crashes if I craft too many items. I tried many fixes and nothing worked. According to Steam forums this is an uncommon but sadly unpatched bug. So if you buy this game just note that you may be one of the unlucky ones who cannot properly play the game. Can you technically still play the game? Yes, but that's not the point. I paid for and expected a full experience without any caveats and I shouldn't have to jump through hoops to have an enjoyable time. It just sours the whole thing when you're constantly worrying about crashes every time you do some tiny little thing. So it's a hard pass from me. The game flopped commercially and the IP is up in the air still as of 2023 so no way is this going to get patched now. If it does, I will amend my review, but let's be real, this game is dead as far as support goes. Not expecting any miracles. Also just note that even if the game does work, it is still a massive resource hog. Doom 2016 came out the same year and is a thousand times better optimised for PC despite also targeting consoles. Doom Eternal, Dead Space Remake, RE Engine Resi games, RDR2, absolutely no problem running on my PC, but this game from 2016? Nah bruv, hope you have 16GB of VRAM to spare for absolutely no reason.
