Deus Ex™ GOTY Edition

This game was a revelation when it was released. Deep, interesting story, plot twists that you never saw coming, and gameplay mechanics that had never really been seen before. Sadly, I doubt its held up to the test of time. That said, it's on sale for £0.69 right now, which is obviously the best price for anything. Well worth a try at that price.

Ive played through this game twice, once in 2003 on my dads computer that barely hit minimum specs for the game and once again in 2021. Its possibly the best RPG made for the PC, the dialogue is interesting and the characters ideals and goals are well layered, the gameplay can feel very dated at times but after gaining experience, leveling up your skills and installing some bio mods its a blast. This game is an absolute gem and if you can see past the aging qualities of an ancient engine and look at the story telling and interactivity in the world and NPCs you will come to realize that in the year 2000 this magnificent game became a well deserved legend. 10/10

most of the game is excellent roleplaying. your stats affect your abilities in big ways, augmentations open more options but are suitably rare, the choices you make in both dialogue and simply in navigating levels are usually accounted for. first issue, three of the skills in your skill tree are barely useful. never put ranks in swimming or environmental resistence, maybe put a single rank and no more in medical if you're really struggling. second, about 40% of this game could be cut without losing all that much. after a while, the game becomes bland shooter levels and only really recovers at the tail end of the game. for seven usd, probably lower because the game goes on sale quite often, i'd say it's worth it.
