A hot mess of bad ideas and poor design
This game is not worth your money. Besides skipping its main story of 'deliver us the moon' meaning get the power that's on the moon back to earth because the people on earth are experiencing a permanent blackout because there's no more resources left (though there's plenty of wind and heat all over the world, it seems...) you make your way to the moon and you go through point and click puzzle after point and click puzzle and slog through bits of filler one after the other, while this subplot goes on about some sort of cryptofascist uprising where the moon people leave behind the earth people or something and there's a tertiary plot of some family and you get zero, again, ZERO reasons to care. there's no investment, there's no motive. stuff just happens and when the game tries to force you into caring with tension moments either through ridiculous quick time events that are unannounced and can instakill you in 1.5 seconds (while watching what you think is a cutscene) or by giving you a route of oxygen to follow you're violently torn from engagement and reminded YOU ARE PLAYING A VIDEO GAME. The writing is dull and never picks up pace. Some voice actors do solid work, most just read lines. Music is ... not really a thing. some visuals are nice, most is uninspired. gameplay is mediocre, the floating is unpleasant. you can tell they tried really hard. But they made a lot of poor decisions in how they tell their story and how they show it, and how the game is set up as a game. Do you want silly puzzles or do you want serious immersion? Sometimes you think you get stuck but you actually gotta backtrack somewhere and there's plot holes (like the cut cables, or is that just a red herring?) and solid inconsistencies that require either a strange leap in logic or a walkthrough to get you through... or a lucky guess. In closing: DUTM is a poorly presented attempt at telling us to not waste our resources, and it's a slog to play. I value it at 3 bucks (sadly paid 15)...
