decent story and good gameplay. nothing too intense, just puzzles, exploration, and a little danger.

bogus ending
I liked the atmosphere and the gameplay. The graphics were ok. Some of the puzzles reminded me half life (which was good). About the ending - how is it possible that you alone can solve an issue that all the personnel of the lunar base together could not solve?

A Game-like-Movie
DUTM is a good game, no question. It plays semi-realistically like a game set on earth, in space, and on the moon. That said, the game is highly linear and relatively short. This is definitely recommended for "completetists" that value exploring every nook and cranny of the game space for collectables and story elements. The story unfolds via revelation during exploration and puzzle solving. The only downside is the ending which seems a bit forced given all of the previous progression. Certainly recommended when on sale, and not a bad deal at full price.

Nailed the story and atmosphere, short
It feels like a child of Dead Space and SOMA, except the "survival horror", violence and gore. Not that I measure game value purely on length, but the price feels way too much for how short it is, along with the next-to-none replay value, but I do see why would they feel justified slapping equivalent of 20GBP on it—it's really stunning, the feel of being alone on the moon feels so much like one would imagine and the story and narration is top notch, with an interesting look on environmental concerns, human selfishness and desire for power, and the hidden implications within the secrets uncovered by collectables. The story unfolds (aside from progress of course) through holo-recordings, audio recordings, logs, e-mails, etc. Good pacing, nicely done tension moments, not-so-nice deadly QTEs, but fortunately very few of those with good checkpoints before them. Got all collectables except one in a single playthrough, so that's a nice change from games that make your life miserable with that. It’s obvious that a lot of work was done in such a way that pedants like me will appreciate: - Control of the character feels clunky. That fits considering he is in a space suit. The real astronauts described doing stuff in spacesuits like having a beach ball between their arms. This one is much more streamlined, but still a spacesuit and for what it needs to protect from, and the year this is supposed to depict, it can be nothing but clunky. - Being blown away when opening an airlock with air in it. - The locomotion in the much weaker gravitational pull of the moon. Although that lower gravity automatically appears when there is a lack of air and disappears when there is air is a pet peeve, ‘cos it’s not the air, or lack thereof that causes the majority of the gravitational pull. The experience was really good, but maybe get it at a discount, I got it at -33% and that feels quite appropriate.

Beautiful sci-fi mystery
You should be aware that there's a few misconceptions about this game, which I'll try to dispell. This isn't a horror game and it's definitely not a shooter game. Your character will often be brushing with death, but you won't be attacked by space zombies. The story is set around 2059, and Earth has become a wasteland following an ecological and climate collapse. Humanity decided too late to clean up its act, and had sent years prior a mission to the Moon to mine for Helium-3 and produce enough energy to power Earth without damaging the environment further. Presumably, this energy is used to grow food and recycle water. 5 years ago, a mysterious event occured on the Moon, which stopped the energy production. You are on a one-man mission to travel to the Moon, discover what happened and try to repair whatever malfunction has occured to resume the energy production, without which, humanity is doomed. The gameplay is basically an on-rails walking simulator. However, that doesn't work against it at all. The game oozes atmosphere, and the attention to details helps to bring the world alive. There's plenty of things to explore in each area, and everything you encounter provides a small clue as to what happened. Furthermore, the exploration is almost always accompanied with puzzle solving that will enable you to proceed to the next area (which makes sense as you are basically repairing an entire space station by yourself). Most puzzles aren't too difficult or complex, but they are never annoying, they fit in with the world around them, and some of them are fantastically interactive. That gets us to the strongest aspect of this game, which is its writing and story. I can't say much for fear of spoilers, but as you uncover the story bit by bit, you get to discover a rich array of complex characters with solid voice acting to bring them to life. I've had lots of fun playing DUTM. It took me about 5-6 hours to finish, and I enjoyed every second of it.
