Barebones Card-Based Dungeon Crawler

Check the trailer and preview screenshots. Do you see ANYTHING ELSE besides: (1) Menus, (2) Dialogue Scenes, (3) Battle Scenes and (4) A map consisting of nothing but squares with symbols on them, and some info in the margins? THAT'S ALL THIS GAME IS. The map(s) with the squares with symbols on them? THAT'S YOUR DUNGEON NAVIGATION. THAT'S ALL IT IS. The soundtrack was just ambient, droning WHITE NOISE; never came across the track that plays in the trailer in-game. The comic book art style and character designs are kinda cool, but that's really ALL the game has going for it: Its visual style, partially aped from Borderlands. This game's regularly on sale for about $3, and I don't wonder why...because it's definitely not worth the asking price; wished I tried out this game sooner, so I could've asked for the refund before my time ran out...another one on the "Hide" pile...

Fun, Atmospheric, Great Art Direction

Review Update: Just finished my first play through of the game. I realized after my initial review that I should note that I picked this up with all the DLC included. I continued to enjoy the game throughout and was very glad of the extra stuff afforded to me by the DLC. It did likely make the game substantially easier in the long run but it also felt great to be an unstoppable steamroller after having worked to get there for a good chunk of the game. I'm definitely curious to see how other party compositions would fare. Picked this up on super sale and very glad that I did. Although its still early days into the game, I've been greatly enjoying it thusfar and would definitely recommend to anyone I think would be interested. I play a fair amount of card games and rogue-likes and while I'm no expert in them, this one definitely feels like an enjoyable entry into the genres. Playing on normal, it's been quite a comfortable experience so far. Ambushes are either awesome or awful depending on which side of the starting line you're on and the mechanics have been pretty straightforward. Easy to play for a stretch or just a few minutes and feel like you've accomplished something. I'm really digging the art direction and atmosphere. Feels visually reminiscent of Darkest Dungeon as well as this board game I own called Escape the Dark Sector, both of which I really like quite a bit so I was sold pretty much immediately.

A simple romp

The graphics are nice. I didn't get liking the game enough. A meritable purchase. I would try another in this series.

Game-breaking bugs and boring gameplay

After less than 2 hours, I was locked into an endless dialouge with no ability to even access the options menu - my only option was to stop the game via the task manager. The gaem up to that point had been quiet boring.
