If you've played any roguelite you know the basics. Play randomly-generated stages, gathering loot and killing enemies until you die. Repeat but now with any unlockable upgrades you might have obtained on the way, in order to make any subsequent runs easier. So far so good. Where this game differs, of course, is in the details. Once you start a run you get to choose from one of 3 different specializations, each one with its corresponding number of starting items, powers and abilities that will help you play the game your way. Starting a run gives you a couple of random survivors picked from a pool of choices. Each kind of survivor has its own set of skills that will, again, help you customize the way you play (whether you want to focus on attacking, looting, healing, strength, speed, etc.). You then pick between a few random stages where you go gather loot and look for more survivors. Loot comes in the way of weapons, items (which give you passive abilities you can pick from), powers (which can help you change the tide of battle), scrap (used to upgrade stuff) and food (which you need in order to keep going). The more survivors you have, the easier things get, as you have not only more attack power but also more chances of gathering loot before night comes and enemies get more dangerous. Combat is automatic. Your survivors attack anything that's in range, but you can directly make them attack anything you choose as well. As long as you still have at least one survivor, you can keep going. Be mindful. Granted, difficulty doesn't just go down. The more you advance, the higher the number of enemies and the stronger and more varied they get. Things are random enough to keep the game interesting, but never so random that you feel your skill makes no difference. You also get daily challenges, for even more variation. Graphically, the game is great. Pixel art is appealing and everything is easy to discern. It's really a great package, and a lot of fun.
