Убийство монстров – грязная работа.
Некроморфы отличаются от всех врагов, что вы встречали раньше. Выстрел в голову причинит им не больше урона, чем щелчок по лбу. Чтобы выжить, вам придется расчленять их, отделяя их жуткие конечности от искривленных тел.
Импровизированное оружие.
На борту корабля «Ишимура» не так много огнестрельного оружия, но среди инструментов Айзека достаточно средств защиты. Стреляйте вертикальными или горизонтальными сгустками энергии из плазменного резака, издалека управляйте высокоскоростной циркулярной пилой трубореза и уничтожайте все вокруг мощными выстрелами из лазерного пистолета. Альтернативные режимы стрельбы открывают перед вами еще больше тактических возможностей, а улучшения позволяют увеличить число зарядов, мощность и скорость перезарядки оружия.
Нападения в реальном времени.
Что бы вы ни делали, всегда будьте начеку. Другими словами, любое ваше действие – перезарядка оружия, осмотр снаряжения и так далее – дает некроморфам отличную возможность для атаки. Этот кошмар только начался, и именно вам предстоит докопаться до сути происходящего.
I can't go past the second door because Dell won't shoot/ fire at the target you need to destroy to open it. I uninstalled and reloaded the game, watched some walkthrough, disabled V-sync.. whatever.... Nothing works. I can't shoot with the joystick as with the keyboard and mmy other joystick. It can't possibly be me who's unable to press LT and RT at the same time, then I don't know what is going on, but there seems to be extensive problems with computers. Any other control works except shooting/ firing.
A fantastic game with a few flaws. 3rd person perspective with “over the shouldEr” view plays much like FPS, although you can shift the camera to view behind you. Interesting take on enemy encounters; headshots are no longer optimal! Controls can be a bit wonky, leading to many situations where you take a lot of damage just trying to get the enemy into view. Not as reliant on jump scares as FEAR (although there are a few), more reliant on ambient sounds - whispers, singing, creaks and moans of a broken ship. Engaging “mini-games” of sorts created out of unique encounter situations. Good storyline, although at this date many elements seem contrived, and I figured out many of the twists early on. But that’s a matter of having experienced similar twists in other games that likely copied from this one. Definitely worth buying for anyone who enjoys FPS sci-fi!
I played this quite a bit on 360 and no lie my first playthrough took ages because I found myself too scared to want to continue. Eventually I pulled up my big boy pants and faced the horrors head on. Boy am I glad I did. This was one of if not the scariest game I had ever played at the time and it still holds up today in all aspects, scares, sound design, gameplay, even graphically the game still looks remarkably good for it's age. After several years away I have started a new playthrough of the entire main trilogy and I am thrilled to see this game still holds up and I couldn't be more excited to go through the harrowing journey on new superior hardware and new DLC I never got the chance to play before. It's important to note since I brought it up GOG doesn't currently carry 2 or 3 that I have found at the time of writing. However Steam has you covered in that department and if this game happens to be on sale here and not there or something like that then I would still say go for it. The main point here is this game is one of the best sci fi horror games around and imo you would be loony to pass it up. At least dip your toes in. You may find yourself diving in head first afterward.
Dead Space 1 (2008) Is one of those classic games, that you just can't get enough off. Despite it being over 15 years old. The the tense atmosphere, horro and gore still holds up. To this day.
Unfortunately, This game was originally made for consoles. And the pc port, just wasn't that good. So it's stuck in 30 fps. But that can be fixed, if you go to the the ingame options and turn V-Sync off. But also go to Nvidia control panel and turn Vsync on there and also lock the game to 60 fps. Do this and you're good to go!
Dead Space is a great survival horror set in space, with the twist that you need to target limbs instead of just the head to effectively kill enemies, it was inspired by Resident Evil 4, and so on and so forth.
The GoG version of Dead Space works mostly well on Windows 7 64-bit, although I still needed to apply a third party mouse aiming patch, because the devs did not give 1/10ths of a s*** to make it work well themselves.
Even with the third party mouse patch, the non-aiming looking around camera is a bit under sensitive, and for some reason when you're walking on the sticky stuff that slows you down, the camera sensitivity goes NUCLEAR. That makes no damn sense, why does it do this?!
Also the game runs at a horribly fixed, low, and sloggy framerate with VSYNC on. With it off, it's buttery smooth, but at a price: More bugs.
The dying randomly on a zero gravity land bug still seems to be present, and it's one of the worst. I mean, you guys still can't fix that?! Something tells me it was a weird anti-piracy measure that just happens randomly that the devs programmed in for s***s and giggles, but forgot to properly remove, I dunno, just a hunch. Guess it's just developer incompetence instead.
Some massive technical issues aside, great game.
