Days Gone

Not a fan of burly low-EQ tough guy chars, but the environments and travelling are a huge pleasure! I rarely fast travel. Combat ('Hard' difficulty) vs humans is ridiculously easy... would recommend not unlocking 'Focused Shot' (slow time) or 'Ear to the Ground' (highlight enemies through walls) until mid/late-game, makes fighting hordes a lot more intense too. Story feels interesting and believable with a decent variety of priorities across the many NPCs. Plenty of collectibles scattered across the maps to keep you busy, and side-missions to unlock skins/weapons. Ultimately, racing through a fantastic environment, switching between all of the tasks the game throws at you, is pretty dang immersive (excl. walk-along flashbacks)! (oh and the screaming at the radio.. that was weird)

The game played okay, I'd argue that the driving controls are overly sensitive and the camera is a bit slow. Some of the default keys are horribly placed, but thankfully you can fix that. Combat was okay and the first 90 minutes into the game seemed good enough to let you believe it could be an enjoyable game. I save my game after getting to Copeland's hangout, go about my day and return to play more the next morning. My saved progress is gone. I have to replay the last mission of finding my bike (again) and then getting to Copeland's hangout (again). Thinking I did something wrong I tried manually loading the most recently saved game, maybe just clicking on CONTINUE in the main menu doesn't load the most recent game. Nope, same thing, still have to redo the last 20-30 minutes to get back to the same spot in the story where I left originally. Did a search online about progress not saving and yep, it's a trash saving system. Your progress does not save unless "You can save the game only if you are near Deacon's motorcycle or next to a bed". This isn't explained anywhere in the game that I recall seeing. Sorry, but I'm not going to play through missions and have to trek my rear all the way back to my bed or my bike (which you don't have at the beginning after you play through the intro part of the game). Nope, I don't have the patience for that. If the save system was better, just based on the first 90 or so minutes I'd say the game is about a 3, maybe 4 star game. Sadly, it's not worth your time unless you're okay with having to find a bed or your bike to actually save your progress. I put in a request for a refund so I've only played about 85 minutes.

I also could have done without the lesbians but for what is there i'm praying for a sequel.

Don't get me wrong for the ammount of content, the price and story I absolutely loved it and probably going to finish it again. BUT it's a buggy port. 3 dialogues playing at the same time npc sleep in a burned house levitating in the air deeks dialog is composed from separate recording so he's talking slowly and all of a sudden he's screaming the last par hitboxes dont match, tiny rocks act as invisible walls you move one meter you get outside of the mission zone have to kill 20 soldiers again you hit something at 1mph the npc that's on your bike dies you try to get on the bike deeks turns in circles for ever if you dont press the key again I could probably keep going for the remaining 1300 word remaining. 1 star for the poor quality of the dev team, 5 star for the overall experience, story, immersion gameplay

Gameplay is one of the strengths i would say, but dont expect to much from the Story. hope we see one day Days Gone 2 from Bend Studios!
