Not bad, but

Most of the map is useless, as you can't have more than one settlement, due to the low AI IQ. So people spend most of the time running around to get supplies from other end of the (pretty huge) map once you depleted those near your settlement. So you end up with overcrowded ugly village without any other logical options for expansion. Hunters will die hunting an animal, because they did not take food or water. Other people might die as well of starvation, because they go to mine across the map with pickaxe only. As I said low AI IQ. Raiders have to be dealt with as soon as you get alarm because few hits from trown spear can aparentlly destroy a tower and a pallisade as well. Sharpened stick is aparentlly the best weapon against tree trunk pallisade. On other note, nice city builder with lot of potential. If developers ever get enough knowledge points to get out of Mesolithic era, they might do really great game out of this.

Good, but...

The game is entertaining. You want to fend off the initial hardships. You're people freeze in winter, food is hard at first. Then you get further, food is easy. Clothes are piling up in your warehouse of all kinds. Yet you still have people starving, alerts still pop up that people don't have clothes. Why? Also seems to be a bug with sheep. You just get told they get slaughtered, but if you watch one, it's just because of old age. Be nice if the notifications told you what was really going on. To be fair, I feel like the "xxx has starved" notification when you have ample food in every house and warehous/granary is also the same. Every person thats "starved" for me has been of old age. I think the notifications are really buggy. Other than that, this is a very fun game to waste time with. You really want to get your people through a hard winter. Or a summer where fishing and hunting don't work out. Raids every year have you wall up asap, but really never pose much of a problem.

Good start needs work

Dawn of Man is a good game but falls short when it comes to mechanics. Dogs: total waste of space. They make hunting take far longer as they get to the animal first scare it and chase it off making it hard for the hunters to kill and bring it back. No control over their population so you can not get rid of this horrible mechanic unless you actively kill them off on a regular basis. Animals: got one animal it breeds lol Setting Priority on tasks: Also does not work. My people were starving because of lack of food but even with several mortars and cooking fires set to high priority and a huge stack of almost 150 grains the task was almost ignored. And so on great idea and a good base game, needs a lot of tweeking.

Dawn of excellence

"Dawn of Man" is an excellent surviving strategy game. It's similar to "Banished", but with a lot of improvements. The game is slow and focused on survival rather than action. The automation of tasks is a lovely way to concentrate on the game itself. The environment is awesome, living, and challenging. The game requires a lot of patience planning and good city management skills. I really like the overall experience.

Great fun

I love this game. It is all-consuming. The graphics are great, the ability to build your tribe up into a behemoth is both rewarding and challenging. Changing landscapes/maps would add a real edge to what this game offers. Nevertheless, it's a really impressive game.
