Can't save = unplayable

Bought when on sale. Figured it had been long enough since launch that the major issues would have at least been made playable. So I get it, install, start playing - and I can't save. Get an error that leads me to the following suggestions - "turn off BitDefender or Windows Defender." I'm not using either, so there's nothing I can do. If I can't save the game, it's pointless to play. Bottom line, the game works - but is still unplayable.

This is a game played with a keyboard

The game does not allow you to change keyboard layouts. You can only change select controls so, if you play with an ESDF as your control scheme the game will not allow you to rebind controls to match this. The game actually seems like it could be fun otherwise but I personally have wasted my money.
