The best crossover !!!!!
I liked Super Puzzle fighter and this looked kind of like that but with a crazily diverse crossover cast. Astro Boy and BlackJack from anime, Quote and Curly Brace from Cave Story... ... then I saw ... JOHNNY TURBO!!!!! That's when I bought this game. Gameplay: This is a block falling type game similar to Super Puzzle Fighter, Puyo Puyo (Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine) or Panic Bomber. The twist is that merely having the colored squares touch doesn't make them disappear. You will occasionally get a colored crystal. If it touches at least one square of the same color they disappear. It has the usual shenanigans where your actions cause block to be dumped on the opponents side and some other mechanics. Johnny Turbo will explain it all in the tutorial. I played through the Story Mode on my first sitting. This game is very much arcade style. I'd pull it out once in while and have blast but not sink huge numbers of hours into. Story: The story is very straight forward. An evil red crystal has appeared and connected universes. Now good and bad guys alike are clambering to claim it or destroy it. Neat :) Graphics: The graphics are colorful and fun. All the characters have been interpreted in a 3d chibi style. I think they did a good job considering they characters come from varied source media. Little animations give each character their own unique flair. Everything ran smoothly on my system with no noticeable issues. Sound: The music is fun and fits the chaotic nature of this style of game. Nicalis went out of their way to get a stellar voice cast. Peter Cullen is the Narrator/Announcer. Yes, OPTIMUS PRIME's voice announces "You Win"! On top of that Johnny Turbo is voiced by the actual John Brandstetter, the TTi developer Johnny Turbo was modeled after! That made my nerdy little head explode. Overall: This game was fun, short, and a little on the easy side. The main draw for me was cast of obscure characters and the awesome voice cast. Turbo out.
