Pretty fun so far!

I don't have many hours in, but when I read the reviews from other people I was really worried there would be a ton of bugs and the game would be terrible. It was on sale for almost nothing so I bought it anyway, and I have been pleasantly surprised. I think there are still some bugs, but it's not the mess that it apparently used to be. I've played for 5 hours or so and I could see getting at least another 15-20 out of it, so in my opinion it's worth the price.

Good Game, but No User Manual

The game concept is great. The graphics are good. The tutorial forces you through pages of unwanted material, even when you say you don't want the tutorial. There was a horse and coach stuck in the yard next to my inn in the campaign mode. Not sure how that was over-looked. A user manual would be a HUGE help. Rather than forcing players to play through the campaign mode to learn, they could consult the manual to find out more. GoG doesn't offer one. I've not gone looking through the internet to see if one exists. I'm unsure when my employees are paid. Nothing tells you that as far as I've seen, and I haven't been able to puzzle it out. The loyal employees are not always made happier by your praise, or with a bonus. It would be great to be able to see what they like or are missing/don't like so that you can deal with their issues and take better care of them. There are plenty of items to place in your inn. Obviously, the selection could be better, but being a technical writer in the software development industry, my preference is to have bugs fixed first. Once the game is stable, then new content can be added. I've not had the crashing issues that other people are reporting, but I am forced to use my son's computer, because the Anniversary Edition only works on Win 10. I overlooked that when purchasing this, so that's on me. Beyond that, it really is a fun game. I just get frustrated by not having a manual to look things up in and see what I need to do. I cannot get a second floor in the sandbox mode, for example. I have no idea why not. That would be outlined in a user manual.

Not fun

This game is not fun. The interface is difficult to deal with - it took me ten minutes of random clicking to figure out what combination of mouse clicks where on the screen would actually build my first room. It's very difficult to see what stocks you have - there's no simple inventory screen anywhere, or at least not that I've found. Even in ideal conditions I am constantly both running out of food and running out of money so I can't buy more, which I don't understand. The "Rockburry' character keeps coming by and hassling me over the legality of the business, which always prompts a conversation skill check, which I fail most times no matter what choice I pick, which then causes guards to come in and confiscate big chunks of the inventory. Which doesn't help the cashflow issues at all. I hire all the halfway decent workers I can find and half my customers are still constantly complaining about long wait times. Then they're also complaining about poor lighting and bad decor - and I definitely don't have spare money to cover that. Who would ever run a business under these conditions? I can totally understand throwing over the whole thing and running off to the woods to join the outlaws. I don't understand what the designers of this game thought would be fun about how they've implemented any of this. It's not fun at all. If you want to play innkeeper you're better off setting one up in Dwarf Fortress and nerding out in there. I haven't had any crashes or functionality bugs but I haven't gotten far into it. Definitely there are display issues (random colored static) with the road and the woods in the back.

I really want to play this game, but...

This is a good game. I want to play it. If it was released 25 years ago it would have been The Best game. It crashes. Even when it doesn't (don't hire smokers!!) the first mission right after the tutorial absolutely wrecks you money-wise. I'm going to put this down for a long while, but I WANT to play this. Bugfix and, if you want to keep playing at this horrifyingly slow gain pace, a cheatcode for gold. At least we had cheatcodes for impossible games back in the day - sheesh.

After all the fixes, still annoying

How can there be so many good user interfaces on the market, and this is still unintuitive, with no undo, and lots of weird bugs even in version 3.0? I'm uninstalling. I might try again when version 4 comes out. Only buy this if you expect an early-access game -- and I'm saying that after all the upgrades and DLCs.
