Endless replayability
With lots of options for force mixes, terrain and battle types, timeframes and so on including randomizable options gives infinite replayability. Great mix of turn-based for giving commands and then seeing it play out across the battle real-time. This series stands the test of time, still playing and loving it many years later.

Runs fine on Windows 10
First, I have this game and the other two Combat Mission 1 games running fine on a Windows 10 machine....No issues at all. These games revolutionized wargaming in my opinion. The original combat mission actually started life as "computer" Squad Leader, but was dropped as Avalon Hill was having business problems. The developers luckily continued work and released it anyway. This game was the second game released. I think my favorite aspect of the game is the robust scenario editor and battle generator. Makes the game infinitely replayable. At the writing of this review (1-4-2025), I am still playing this game over 20 years later. I'm glad GOG has kept these titles alive.
