Carmageddon Max Pack

This game is just so much fun. There are elements of the gameplay that are still unmatched by any other game that has come since the original Carmageddon. GOG has also done a great job packaging this original game into something that can be run on more modern hardware. The setup is easy aside from one minor tweak needed to make the 3DFX mode playable (I had to tweak the gamma using the nGlide config tool. But the GOG forums had the information I needed to fix it) The little extras like the papercraft cars, original concept art, and manuals are also a sweet addition.

that doesn't mean the game isn't great. It's probably one of the best top 10 driving games of the 90's. I wasn't a fan since I preferred clean racing and not violence in them. This game has violence. To be more accurate, there is a good driving game in this violence pack. The game was one of the handful and of driving games which let you free to explore. The only other two of the 80's and 90's I can remember now were Highway Patrol II and Hard Drivin' . This one was definitely a better driving experience. To win events you need to either exterminate all the civilians, or all the other drivers, or complete the set number of laps, first. None of them is easy, all of them are fun, with the least fun being the clean race effort. Your (upgradable) car can be repaired while inside the race, quickly, as long as it isn't destroyed, but for that you need money. Money you get...I am sure you will figure out how. :) The destruction and mayhem in this game hasn't been seen elsewhere in a driving game. Not even GTA series has this. Have you seen the movie Deathrace 2000? (not the boring recent remake). It's very similar. Kill kill kill, destroy destroy destroy, win win win. I mean, it sounds boring, doesn't it? Why are you still reading this? Buy the game already!

Before the hype of "Mortal Kombat" there was Carmageddon. Back then not enough people owned computers to brag about it so there was no need for the ESRB. Why the hell is there one now? This game is Mortal Kombat on wheels. The graphics are as bland as they come, but not to bad. Still can't get the GOG version to work right. Using the keyboard is awful, I can't configure my game pad. The game is awesome but GOG should refine the controls. A solid game with flaws. If I could go back I would not buy this game, unless the problems are fixed.

I used to love this game back in the day, the cartoon style gore was funny, think of it a wacky racers on acid :)

You'll have fun smashing into other cars and people. Ignore the race! Game gets rolling as you upgrade items to your car. Countless hours playing.
