A Solid Entry
While CTP and CTP2 were not made by Meier and friends, it's a solid entry that iterates on many of the mechanics of Civ2. Certain game mechanics are poorly implemented providing mild frustration, but the gameplay is solid none the less. In particular, I love the "future" elements of the game, and I love that wonders have more impact. If your a fan of 4X games, I recommend it.

Barely works
Even with mods, you'll have a hard time with this one. You'll struggle to get music. You'll struggle to to read the text. You'll struggle to even make the commands work.

Civ 2 1/2
In the beginning was the void. And then came a boardgame called Civilizations. And then Sid Meier adapted the concept to create one of the most acclaimed video games of all times. The game had descendance and that was good. But it also inspired comptetitors and that was good too. Call To Power, 1st of the name was a successful implementation of the concept and introduced changes that are not yet present in current versions of the original franchises : new territories ( oceans and space), units fighting in function of their type (shock troops on the front line, ranged units behind, artillery at the back ), clever micromanagement and a different set of marvels. CTP2 goes even a bit further : newer interface, larger armies, introduction of bonusses for specific achievements. It also dropped the space conquest victory in favour of an ecological victory condition. Another feature is the ability to implement third mods. Craddle of Civilization or Age of Man might still be available, so do not hesistate !

Inferior to first CTP, still great entry
I think Call to Power was the pinnacle of the Civilization franchise, so I am happy to see this on GOG. However, looking forward for the prequel as the gameplay was much better and AI was more balanced. Great game here though, if you like the Civ series. 3.5/5 stars

Ah Nostalgia you old hound you...
After purchasing this the other day and loading it up I was hit by a wave of nostaglia. The music hit me and I was cast back to a simpler time of gaming. Although not as graphically superior as say Civ V for example, Call to power had heart and thats what counts for me. The sad thing about games of yesteryear is they are plagued by bugs due to screens changing from those big bulky ones to the sleeker models. Thus refresh rates have changed which leads to screen flickering and such. Thats ok though its like watching an old movie :) I wish someone would make an updated version (or Enhanced Edition) of this game. Because it genuinely is a great game. I've heard things like the AI isnt great, which I never really tend to notice as my tanks are rolling over their units! Anyways there are mods for that kind of thing I'm sure. But dont let a few bugs and a simple AI stop you from enjoying a great game with what I have to say is an amazing soundtrack that has never been replicated to this day.
