Story
Following the events of Call of the Machine, The Machine was left trapped in the Void — a dimension between worlds. Isolated from time and space, with no way back to his own reality, he drifts in the darkness until he is contacted by an ancient, consciousness: one of the Vadrigar, gods of the Arena Eternal. The Vadrigar reveals that the Strogg, in their post-defeat dimensional explorations, have imprisoned fellow Vadrigar once defeated by a mortal and other creatures from the Dreamlands, using them as raw material. Through their biomechanical technology, the Strogg have begun creating a new army of hybrids: demons enhanced with implants, gods turned into living generators, ogres fused with precision weaponry. Their goal is clear: to resume the war against humanity, this time with an impossible legion.
This profanation is not only a threat, but a direct offense to all of the opposing factions among the Vadrigar. They cannot intervene directly… but they can use The Machine as their instrument of retribution. In exchange for being freed from the Void and returned to his own dimension, he accepts one final mission: travel to the convergent dimension forged by Strogg technology, where the times and realms of Quake 1 and Quake 2 are merging, and destroy the hybrid army before it can invade human reality. Along the way, he must navigate demon-infested temples laced with Strogg machinery, factories where biomechanical monstrosities are assembled, and war zones where the last remnants of each realm struggle to survive. In his path lie what remains of Chthon and Shub-Niggurath, now enslaved and twisted beyond recognition by technology.

I love this Quake 2 mod it's so awesome Troublesome thing is I can't get someone to join me in multiplayer but I'm sure I'll soon get someone to join me in multiplayer sometimes.
Feels like a true Quake sequel, one of the best mods of this year alongisde Red Alert 2 Apocalypse Rising and Alice Dreamland, unfortunate it's very short (2 hours and 30 minutes on Nightmare).
I know to sound a little 'meh', but truth to be told, after playing the other mods from the same team (Bloom is the first that comes to mind) I find call of the Void, while not just passable, but also not a 'masterpiece'.
Don't get me wrong: the work behind seems to be insane, and there's an underline love for the genre, and the models have quite the imagination when comes to it, but then you have average enemy placement, bland maps (despite looking good) and a fondness for being difficult for its own sake.
After all, all elements in the gameplay must serves a purpose. In this case, while being imaginative, there are not so good at implementing them.
Still, for Quake II fans out there, it's a good mod.
