Breath of Fire IV

Ownership. accessibility , and preservation are more important now than ever. BOF4 is a great port of the og pc version and fixes some bugs that it use to have. If you want to own your digital game and not pay 50-100 dollars on a used copy, get this version.

This is one of best jrpgs I've ever played. The story is amazing and original, the main villain is one of the best ever portrayed and well written, the battles are cool and engaging. This port on the other side is a terrible mess! Don't be fooled by the "Full support for modern controllers" and "Stunning New and Improved Graphics" descriptions as the controller support is terrible and will get different errors depending or your system (just look at the many complaints shared on the reviews) - in my case I couldn't map the Confirm button and also somehow I keep entering the initial area again on the worldmap (even when I don't press anything) The graphics are the same as in the ps1 version, the only thing they did was upscale to modern resolutions and even that is messed because the characters and textures are blurried and sometimes it feels like the game is stutering. Besides, there is no added quality of life options such as fast forward battles (something I personally think that would be very welcome in this remaster) I always wait for a sale and some initial patches to buy any game, even those that aren't too expensive. When I heard about this, however, I got it right away. I know its a great thing to have these games getting the attention they deserve but its also important they get the proper treatment and polishment. It makes me sad to say this, but unless they fix it, avoid it and get the console version instead.

I only get a black screen for a couple of seconds and the game won't start at all. I've tried almost everything to try to make it work... It's a shame because i love this game and as soon as i got the news of the release i bought it :( Hope the devs do something about it ...

Amazing, I didn't expect this great classic to be relesed specially here exclusively for drm free lovers like us. Unfortunately, I gave it 4 stars because its probably the censored version without Nina's, and Ursula's bathing scene or the emperor's decapitation part. Anyways I'll have fun with this gem.

This port is so bad, I am actually astonished. The graphics are so blown out and blurry everywhere on the menu and in-game, its crazy how this got released. It only shows Keyboard controls when I have a controller connected. Stereo sound was messed up in the into scene. Just play it on an Emulator because this is not acceptable.
