Oh my God! That this game is still out there is incredible. It is the best RPG I have ever played. Well, I am going to repeat what the other comments have already pointed out: Get this game if you want to experience an epic story. Nothing to add, except that you should read the books as well.

I discovered this game back in the 90's when it was released for free by Sierra to advertise 'Betrayal in Antara.' By the time I played it, the graphics were already severely outdated - but even from the very beginning of the game I could tell this was something special. The first impression was dead on...everywhere you go in this game, you feel like you're there. Every part of the game is thought out and on-purpose. (Back in the day there were a few bugs in the Northlands...hopefully those are fixed for this release). Can't really say anything that hasn't been said before, except that this game absorbed me so much that I went almost immediately and purchased every Feist book that was available at the time...and also loved those so much that they are my absolute favorite pieces of fiction.

I played this for the first time back in 1994, and more recently after I bought it from gog. Excellent back then, still great now. I liked the combat system (spells, melee and ranged), the spells (most are nice and usefull), the inventory items (most are combat oriented) and the secondary skills (lockpicking, singing to name two) that add a little something to it all. The story is good, and despite the age, the world is interesting even design-wise with much to explore. In the first chapter it can get a bit frustrating, because you are so weak and poor and will spend a lot of time taking stuff to shops, but then most rpgs do the same. There is a lot of walking, if you want to explore everything like me, and in several chapters you can explore a vast area, so it can get tedious, but you can just advance the story. Skill leveling depends on use, which is both good and bad, but apart from lokpicking, you need not worry about this. Overall, a must buy for me.

I remember this game fondly (Krondor). It as very different in terms of style and played really nice, the story was also very good. I always meant to read his books, maybe after I read GoT.
