Too expensive for what it offers
I love MWO and that's the reason I bought this. Even though I prefer turn based games, I didn't like this one

Good game, so much potential
I just started getting into this game and it's got a lot of potential. I do think it's a fair representation of the tabletop Battletech. Make not mistake though, this game is a resource hog. My biggest complaint is the same with most "cutting edge" games of today. In my opinion the game suffers trying to make it look so beautiful. It is a great looking game and takes advantage of all the latest advancements in rendering technology. But why? I like managing squads of mechs. I like salvaging from the battlefield. I love the thrill of tactical success. Stories and scenarios are great. This can all be done without bleeding edge graphics. Sure, studios don't want their game to look antiquated, but it doesn't have to require the latest drivers not to crash either. Two-year-old rendering technology is just fine to make a world-class game. (I'm content with MUCH older, but I understand that not everybody else is) The game does have the ability to turn off a lot of the camera manipulation, which is just about the first thing I wanted to. After seeing one mech be destroyed in cinematic fashion, I was over it. I want to play and be involved. I don't want to watch movies. I don't want long loading times. Hopefully I can tune more of this crap down as I get into things. I am happy with the pacing now but as I start playing more I'm going to want to tune down the "fluff" even more, I suspect. I did have it crash 2 times on me before I updated my graphics card driver. I played one mission after the update and no crashes so I'm hopeful but really didn't play it long enough to see that there were no memory leaks (which I'm suspicious of because of the garbage in the logs). FWIW I'm on a linux mint box with an 8gig nvidia card. I updated from driver version 384 to 410. I have a feeling I will get pulled into this game though. It's a good game with the potential to be great if it just tried a little less in the graphic department and was more stable.

One big mess
The game literally crashes every time I close it and I have to force a shutdown with task manager. The gameplay doesn't feel good or fair; and while the plot is interesting it's not enough to make up for it. This is one of those games that I would sooner reccomend people watch a let's play of it than actually play. If you're a hardcore fan for the battletech universe then you MAY be able to look over some of the issues but for an average joe like me it's just a crappy tactics game with an ok plot slapped on top.

Good with flaws
The menu's are unfortunately a lot of the game lol. I'm here to play the actual game which is on a map (yes that thing). When will devs learn? Idk either. I don't want to be throw up yet another menu window that I have to read because it forces you to choose about random dumb things. Partial day's work to substantially improve the game by offering a setting or more to toggle this stuff as I'm not the only one I guaragee you that finds it not fun. They never would have thought. However, the game is fun enough when you take away all the cons. The above is really the majority of the 2 star removal for me. Probably only about .5 of the 2 stars would be from the rest of the gameplay issues for me which includes various things like having to farm stats or the fact that battle mechs aren't sold in one piece and with high prices for only a piece of a mech. Those things make playing more annoying. Its not brillant like some other review suggests. Its fun with flaws. If you can deal with the flaws or not, idk. Not everyone will I can tell you that.

Good, gets tedious
Game is good, but it gets tedious. Additionally, if playing on Macbook with Mx chips (M1, M2, M3, etc.), game is broken unless running in debug/cheat mood. This allows you to skip certain missions that cannot be completed due to a glitch. Apart from those issues, game is fun.
