Battle Chess

Just a good old game. Battle sequences kinda cool for being old tech. I hadn't played in years. Made it fun to play . I will play this game more often.

I've finally bought this game after it dropped down to $6.99 after feeling like waiting years for it to get there, since it usually goes down to $9.99. I got it to revisit the chess animations again. No chess game that I know of, have brought me entertainment than Battle Chess has. It's the only chess game I'll ever play. However, it does play a little cheaply. Normally, a King can take a rival piece if they're not entirely surrounded by other pieces in a check-mate situation. He can defend himself otherwise. That's not how it worked in Battle Chess, because in the beginning of the game, the A.I's bishop made two moves to slay my King, not before slaying one of my average frontline knights. In 2 moves, I didn't have a chance to respond and have the King defend himself. That's kind of dumb to me and it's something I might've misremembered of Battle Chess or something. Either way, it's a cheap way to play chess. I still appreciate the flare that was added into the game. Just don't look to Battle Chess to abide by standard chess rules.

I remember playing this as a child and being amazed by the animated chess pieces. But now over 20 years later I can say that it aged very poorly. All the animations are so agonizingly slow and long. The sound is grating. It really is not a pleasant experience.
