Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition

For years I was not trying this version because I was reading a lot of comments about how bad this version is. I'm a Linux user. Not a beginner, but I consider myself an advanced one. And I don't know how many hours I spent trying to run this "the best and only one original version" + install widescreen mod + bg2 engine. Oh, have I mentioned that I'm from Poland so I really wanted to have a Polish translation? And after all those tries, I said to myself "Srew that, I'm trying EE version". And, oh my god, it just works! JUST WORKS. Full HD, mouse scrolling, Polish language, and it's blazing fast. Like I think that you could even run it on a "smart toaster" currently. I don't know what bugs people are talking about, because after 4th chapter I don't see any. Instead, there are a lot of UX upgrades that you would expect from nowadays games. I'm supper happy with this purchase. So as long as you are not a vanilla lunatic that loves 640x480 resolution, on his good old PC from 2001, just give it a try. You will not regret.

I bought this game (15 december 2024) and it doesn't include original version, as description says: "Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition includes the classic Baldur's Gate: The Original Saga. More information here." I bought this game only for original version, but I didn't get it... Please fix it!

I don't know how the game was when it came out; I only got it just recently. I loved the original Baldur's Gate and played it several times and initially I avoided the Enhanced Edition (EE) like the plague because of the controversy around it. Having played it now (several years after its release) I can say that the game in its current form is pretty good and enjoyable. I didn't notice much in the story / character interactions related to the EE (which is a good thing) and the things I did notice were either welcome changes or I considered them neutral. The local multiplayer is pretty unstable, I had multiple crashes but otherwise the game is good, I'd recommend it. I removed 1 star for the frequent crashes.

It's Baldur's Gate alright. And the graphical improvements are a godsend (yes, I know that the vanilla game has a high resolution mod, but for me at least the EE fix works better. ONCE YOU DISABLE THE UGLY CHARACTER OUTLINES THAT IS). There's also some new content; new classes and such for what I can tell. It's somewhat interesting, but there are mods out there that do the same thing just as well, so this is zero-sum. By the way, while BGtweaks works, many vanilla trilogy mods still don't work. The deal-killer is the price. Spin it any way you like, these improvements are just not worth the money when you can get the original saga for a third of the price. It's still the same game. I only got it because there was a 85% discount. I advise you wait for the same, or a better one.

Решил переиграть в игры детства, тряхнуть стариной так сказать) Но к сожалению, русская локализация весьма плохо играбельна. Во-первых сам перевод не очень качественный. Плюс озвучка и текст никак между собой не связаны. Явно делались разными командами. Ну и главное, в русской версии проблема со шрифтами. В меню все мелко и не читабельно, и как это вылечить я пока не разобрался.
