ARMA: Gold Edition

I've beaten all three campaigns and I wouldn't recommend this game to anyone for the campaign. It's mostly you being a one man army doing all the work because the AI is so incompetent and a burden. There's times where your squad members will not return in formation and get lost. The AI as a driver in your vehicle drives extremely slow, this becomes a problem when the objective is urgent or an enemy vehicle is close. You have to basically babysit your squad members, leave them behind at times so they don't get in the way and finish the mission solo on your own otherwise you will fail the mission. Missions can be incredibly hard and some have unnecessarily sadistic difficult design. *(SPOILER)* There is a mission in Royal Flush where your five man squad have to assault a TV station for the prince to broadcast his speech and you then have to defend and hold off a platoon of enemies attacking in waves. You don't get support from his army at the start of the mission it's only at the very end that you get reinforcement after you kill like thirty plus attackers and two UAZ MG shows up. It's the prince ffs... he needs more security. The movement is a little clunky and the aiming is a little sluggish. Climbing ladders is buggy, you and your team can fall and die. This game is more frustrating than it is enjoyable.

GoG keeps selling games that don´t work without tweaking or modding or endless searching for fixes. Again and again i buy games here that end up on my hidden unplayable "out of the box" game list. Many of you will say to just download this and that but it's the same as buyin a new car and the seller saying " now you'll just have to look somewhere in the www for the engine for it to work". i wonder if they even test the freaking games before they buy it, because on a updated machine it does not work as is.

It has really unusual control. The missions are kinda all over the place. Comandeering a Humvee or something is annoying as hell because your guy keeps yelling "Forward!" "Left!" "Right!" and so on when you press W A S or D. But it's pretty impressive that this is from 2007.

i only mess around in the editor with these games, i have never even tried to beat the missions, so if you liked playing with plastic soldiers as a kid then you will love messing around with the sandbox editor. the original game looked really bad but would run on just about any PC out there, this one looks sooo much better but those visuals come at a price, you need to have a half decent PC to run it!!! it's fun going in the editor and creating battles. one thing that really bothers me though....the original game had female civilians, this one doesn't. ???? what the hell??? i was sooo upset about this because the character models in this game look really nice so it was a real let-down to not see any ladies in this incarnation of the arma series....for that reason it loses 2 points.
