unplayable
the first diolog of the game glitches out instantly and the npc diolog never leaves the screen, additionally whenever you move the mouse durring this part it causes the text to smear all over the view area then you cant click on the diolog options anymore making the game unplayable form the start.

Critical Fumbles suck
It is a nice idea in theory but rolling a 1 or whatever it is and cutting your arm off is stupid. I had a character with like 23 strength. Knocked himself out. Stupid game design. I think the lore and world of arcanum. So there are some points for that. I didn't start a mech dwarf again but from memory they were useless. Also your npc can't heal you if you go tech. That is probably the biggest debuff. If you do want to play in my opinion just having a guy with high charisma so you have allies that stomp them in the face is the optimal strat. That is how I beat it the only time. Combat goes too fast in real time.

Looks intriguing, if only it worked
The game concept looks basically intriguing, as does the world setting. A good steampunk game ought to be a lot of fun to play. (Although a really good steampunk game ought to have Jagermonsters ... but i digress.) Unfortunately, "ought to" is the most I can say for Arcanum, because I cannot get it to work. Oh, it installs, it runs, I can create a character, the introductory video cut-scene plays, and from the end of that video onward, the screen is hopelessly messed up. I'm running a 27" Asus monitor at 1920x1080 via an nVidia 980Ti, and Arcanum just doesn't know what to do with it. All the dialogue text is overlaid over the text before, the screen isn't properly drawn ... I can't see a thing. Sadly, it's completely unplayable.
