A classic, though purely for nostalgia

Reading some of the many reviews for this game, I notice a lot of people complaining of the games difficulty and that it is unforgiving against user errors. People need to keep in mind that games in the 90s were far more difficult than today, this is where the issue with hand-holding in modern games comes into it. If you think back to many classics, all of them were frustratingly hard... Baldurs Gate, Golden Axe, Flashback, Another World, Diablo to name but a few. All were hard, but when you beat something, you actually felt an accomplishment. I never beat this game, I never figured out the ship scene at the end... And without the internet as we have now, there were no real hints on how to actually defeat it... Perhaps now I can actually finish this though. But in truth, I very much doubt this game (or many on the site in general tbh) are designed for new gamers. It feeds off nostalgia which is what we love... If you've never played this before, expect it to hurt, but work through it and you may learn to love it.

Better definition, good old game

I initially believed both 15th and 20th anniversary editions were just repackaged versions of the old DOS edition with included dosbox, but I was wrong! They both are a complete rewrite of the game engine, although the plot doesn't change. That's just great, better graphics, higher definition but same scenes and playability for a game that already was a lot of fun. Anyway I still can't spot any "improvements" between the two anniversary editions in terms of game play, but I'm the glad the latest one has localization files that can be edited with a plain text editor, since Italian strings are far from being perfectly translated.

Frustrating yet fun.

Wow. This game is hard. I feel as a modern gamer I've been a tad coddled, especially when it comes to console-commanding my way out of anything a bit too trying. Yet Another World revels in its difficulty, and though I was frustrated for much of my playtime, I actually enjoyed it. There were a few moments that felt unfair, as though I were punished for smart play (oh, I'm NOT supposed to kill that guard immediately? Really, Eric Chahi, really?), but overall, Another World was an enjoyable look back on how dang tough things used to be. Not for everyone, but definitely worth it if you're in the mood for a challenge.

Excellent Short Game

I never played this game when I was a kid, I always knew about it, but never could get my hands on it. I got this version of it, installing, launching and configuring went smoothly. Game graphics are simple but nice, you can understand why it was a stand out when it was released. The premise is good but there is very little in terms of story here. The game play is fun, however there is not much of it. The whole game can be finished in a 2~3 hours easily, and if you know what you're doing you can probably do it in 45 min if not less. Overall, Fun but short.
