Alien Breed + Tower Assault

I have played Alien Breed back in the day on my Amiga 500+ so I knew what to expect, on the other hand I did not have the opportunity to play Tower Assault, this was my first encounter. These games are the products of a different era, they are not easy, they are trying to hurt you. The main difficulty is not even the shooting part - in both games you have to complete most levels by finding the exit in a maze under time pressure. If you can't find the exit, no matter how many lives do you have, it is game over immediately. You have to memorize the levels trial-by-error. There is no save option - only passwords to continue the game from a specific level. In case of Alien Breed you loose all your weapons, keys, ammo - but you will get a decent amount of money and you can re-arm yourself. Now let's talk about my main problem with Tower Assault. A big difference between AB and TA is that the latter is nonlinear - this might increase the replay value of the game, however, maybe it is my version, maybe it is a known problem, but I can grind through 6-7 levels without getting a password. So if I get lost in the maze and cannot exit a level it does not matter that I have zillion lives, it is game over, and I have to grind the previous levels as well. Besides that I consider this a serious issue, I simply don't have 2 hours straight to sit in front of Tower Assault. By the way, I can also get stuck on the store deck levels. It is possible to enter between two obstacles but then it is impossible to leave - hit escape, game over, grind again. Just no. I had no such problems with Alien Breed.

I like the game, but the bugs are ruining the experience. Random freezes, sometimes I can play 5 minutes and it freezes, sometimes I can play more than 1 hour and it's running fine. Password system is bugged, after you use a password, you won't get any passcodes after that. If you play the game from the very start without exiting, you get the passcodes. Another bug: I got the password after reaching Military deck 3, I had the Refraction laser upgraded to max damage, I quit the game to continue later. When I applied the passcode, the maxxed out refraction laser disappeared and I got heat seeking missiles instead. I don't know if this is intended or not, but it's not cool.

So this game was released back in 1991 and is a top down shooter inspired in the Aliens franchise , despite not having any conection at all to that universe. Nevertheless the eeriness and suspense of the aliens franchise is pretty present in this game , as you navigate through the dark corridors of the space station. The gameplay itself is quite simple as you just need to shoot everything in sight while avoiding get hit by the aliens , but it can still be quite fun .

До этой версии, я играл в версию с P3/PSVita (не понимаю что мешало портировать ее в GOG все так же с поддержкой трофеев и опционально выбором запуска версии с консолей и старой DOS версии. Такая же фигня с 1м carmageddon, android версия получилась комфортнее и без лишнего гемора из разряда настроек 3dfx врапперов для старой версии. могли бы что ли обе версии выпустить на пк и сделать опционально выбор запуска новой и старой версии, ну и конечно же трофеи, куда без них. Что то из разряда убить всех на всех кратах, собрать все машины и тд)))))) Там управление было выполнено двумя стиками, что собственно современно и удобно Эта же версия естественно еще тех бородатых времен и подобного, комфортного управления, как клава+мышь для поворотов и конечно же возможность настроить геймпад я тут не нашел) (если есть те кто все это дело настроил и я оказался не прав, плз напишите мне как это сделать)) Не то что бы саму игру это делало вообще не играбельной, но после версий сболее современным управлением и поддержкой трофеев, в эту (если конечно она для тебя не ностальгическая) играть не тянет. Так что если вы ранее в нее не играли, и у вас есть консоли, лучше купите игру на них. А в противном случае играйте в Игры серии Alien Breed Trilogy. Игру купил на распродаже так что пускай лежит для коллекции) Ну и более позднюю трилогию бы импортировать сюда из Steam было бы норм)
