Best tycoon game in my opinion!

wow! GOG.COM,you'v done it again! i was mesmerized when i saw this was on the catalog. to anyone who isn't familiar: this is one of THE best tycoon titles for the PC back in the day: it had a wonderful personal feel to it: you play as a manager of an airline,and your job is to beat your competition in glorious cartoon management fashion: you handle every aspect of the airline business: from promotion to flight plans to routes to inter-airline relations to the planes you own,their maitences and your even able to issue an expansion of the airport(and give your competition a little "friendly tweaking" on behalf of some good placed connections...fans will know what i'm talking about). all of the game is poorly but excitingly voice casted by the original german voice cast in english,and everything is done on an near personal level,as you take direct control of the airline manager and walk and talk around the airport. this game also has a wonderful MIDI based soundtrack which as a former MIDI player piano user,i can say is well synthesized on that sound technology. all in all,it's a great pick for tycoon players,business management game lovers and just about anyone who's in to fun and easy to master yet complex and detailed business simulation games.

Do you even airlift, bro?

If you can ship a plane, why not airline a ship? Yeah, that's the way, I need to start myself a flying firm for financial fortune. And because my mom is badgering me to finally get off my ass and invest that million I got from dear old grandpa 'insurance fraud'. Hey, if you can fake a disability and fill out a form, you can run an airline! The game is a simplified view on an airline industry, but it has all the essential cogs and gears: Personnel management, plane buying and maintenance, fuel management (you can buy it on the cheap if you don't ask what war-torn country it came from), route or individual fare management, last minute torus and freight transport, terrorist financing (no, really), bank and stock market browsing, airport boss badgering, duty free shops (yes!), early going home from work (YES!!), bathroom management simulator (don't ask), media advertising and soda machine abusing (a very electrifying experience). The tone of the game is very charming and humorous, and the visuals try to match that. Everything is laid back and fits neatly into a caricature of itself. The meat of the game, the actual airline management, is straightforward, organized and easily understood. Well, there are some minor issues where you might scratch your head and get little feedback as to how to proceed, but overall the experience is very newbie friendly. Your top priority is to transport passengers and cargo and thus acquire money for more and better planes, routes, and to enhance your company's reputation. You can also get shafted in all sorts of ways by your friendly neighborhood saboteur (behind a fake wall, no less), but you can also use him to annoy the competition, so it's all good in the end! I regard the game as being one of my all time favorites, with just a slight tarnish to the shine. While you can have loads of fun in the early stages, moving into the mid or even late game gets very repetitive very fast. But I always come back for more!

Oh god the memories.

This game is great. Great to see it on GOG, finally. This is one of my most played games of all time. I still play it from time to time. From the outside it looks like a simple, fun and kinda silly tycoon game. But underneath there's a lot of micromanaging and economic stuff to keep track on. Humor is great and I still love the graphics to this day. (Even if it might look a little dated). If you like tycoon games, you should definitely check this out

Mac Version

One of the greatest casual Economy-Simulation of all time! Timeless graphics, funny characters, detailed environment. And despite what some reviews like e.g. the one by pguth, it runs perfectly smooth on the latest OS X. I play it on a Macbook Pro Late 2011 and have not encountered any problems. The only issue with the game: it's not optimized for 16:9 screen, but runs in a 4:3 resolution. But the black bars on the left and right side of the game don't harm the fun with the game. --------------------------------------------------- Different from the STEAM VERSION --------------------------------------------------- For anyone who already bought the game on STEAM and had some issues with it there: I also bought it at steam too, but couldn't play the steam version in fullscreen, but had to play it in a tiny 1/4 window of the total screen, which was incredibly annoying - but with the gog-version, it runs in fullscreen mode without any problems. Another advantage towards the Steam Version: the language is not just english, but you can play it in English, German and French.

best tycoon game

This game has one of the best cartoon styls in my opinion. There are a lot of easter eegs and it was awesome to find them again, like in my childhood. But back to the essential of the game, its highly complex there are all important Parameters which the management of the airline has to handle. All in all its such a nice game and its much fun to play.
