Too expensive for what it is
Charming graphics, but very simple game mechanics with a very limited freedom. Nothing compared to the great Sierra-games (Caesar 3, Pharaoh, Zeus, Emperor) with their replayability and variety. It was fun to play on the first four or five maps, but it's very repetitive and gets boring very soon for me. Too expensive in my opinion.

Not a GoG, This belongs on Bigfish.
I bought this through Steam when it came out. I enjoyed it, it is simplistic and repetitive but I enjoyed it. I doubt I'd every play it again though. I suppose I was just looking for anything remotely close to the old Seirra games. That said, I agree with the other reviews here. Too expensive, too causal to appeal to classic city builders and simply does not belong on GoG. Overall 1849 has relatively few scenarios compared to city managers of old, clocking in at only 20. It's marred by repetitive game play and simplistic design, this game looks, feels and plays like a causal game from Bigfish. That in and of itself isn't necessarily bad but this game has no place on GoG. Save this for Bigfish or Steam. The games asking price is the final nail in the coffin, this is entirely too expensive for what it is. 1849 is $4.99 IoS but PC users are inexplicably overcharged.

Save your money
Apparently this game is or was on the IOS. I was unable to actually find it on the store but if you google 1849 ios you will find reviews. What we have here is nothing more than that game but with a $15 price tag. The game lacks any depth and is just plain boring. This is not a city management game, its a test of patience.
