Great game
I own it through Steam. Recently NISA hired a famous coder "Durante" to patch and fix the game. Before I didn't have any crashes with a 2600x/580 so I cannot say much about that. Was my first entry to the Ys series and I must say it prompted me to buy the other ones. Very good story, great gameplay, and an amazing soundtrack! Highly recommend it.

Great game for a newcomer
I bought the game after wathcing a stream on the new YS IX. Never play an YS game before, and I love this YS VIII ! I finished it in about 45h and couldn't stop. The story begins slowly, with modest objectives, but as the adventure goes, it gets deeper. Lot of quest, lot of background. I suppose I dident get all the references because it's the first game of the serie I play, but I'll keep discover it with great interest :

Good game
I loved the game and the story. The fighting are dynamics and quite cool. The characters are interesting. In conclusion I had a lot of fun doing the game. In 77 hours of play I had only one crash. Graphically the game is not very beautiful but the island remains very pleasant to browse.

Masterpiece
After playing through the game (nearly 100 hours total) I am convinced this game is a masterpiece. Excellent storytelling, characters, extremely fun to play, beautiful visuals, I could go on and on. I've heard the launch version of the game had a lot of issues but at this point it has been fully patched and a lot of content has been added so you are getting the best version.

Best Ys Ever
Literally. Deepest and longest story. Best graphically and mechanically. Everything is just perfect... Even if some stuff is still very JRPG/Anime-like, but I am fine with it for the most part. I can not add much, but it is very new experience for series. And it have some old stuff from Ark of Napishtim and such. If you like the series you should play this one. If you like action JRPGs you should play this one too. And now I just want some art from the game...and soundtrack...and...we'll see.
