Red-haired adventurer extraordinaire Adol Christin has finally reunited with his best pal, Dogi, and is eager to begin a new adventure in Afroca. It seems fate has other plans, however, as a pirate captain named Ladoc catches up with him during a brief stopover in the port city of Ediz, and presents him with an offer he simply can’t refuse.
Ladoc, it happens, is the father of an old acquaintance from one of Adol’s previous adventures, and he wishes to solicit Adol’s expertise in exploring the mysterious western islands of Canaan. There, a phenomenon similar to the Stormwall from Adol’s first ever quest in Esteria is occurring, completely cutting off all trade and communication both in and out. The land is thus completely uncharted, and may hold treasures of heretofore unseen value.
Never ones to back away from a good mystery, Adol and Dogi both agree to join Ladoc and his daughter, Terra, on this expedition aboard their ship, the “Tres Mares.”
It seems the Romuns have their sights set on Canaan as well, however, and they’re none too keen on a ragtag group of pirates and adventurers getting in their way. When the Tres Mares is inevitably attacked at sea, Adol is knocked overboard and left for dead.
He washes ashore in Canaan itself, alive but weakened, rescued and resuscitated by two young girls named Isha and Olha who sport long ears and bushy tails. They are of the native “Rehda” tribe, and it seems Adol is not the first human to arrive here—nor are humans particularly welcome...
As a special bonus, Ys VI: The Ark of Napishtim includes an optional download of the Ys VI Material Collection, a digital art collection featuring original illustrations and concept sketches from the development of the game.
The fast, real-time combat Ys is known for gets a new twist: three swords that control differently and house unique magical abilities which factor into all battle combos.
Set to quintessentially Ys rock music composed by the legendary Falcom Sound Team jdk, giant monstrosities fill the screen and use clever tactics to try and end Adol’s quest!
Adjustable high-rez graphics, gamepad support, added warping among checkpoints, and a new “Catastrophe Mode” where healing items can’t be purchased or stored, combine for the best Ys VI yet.

I actually did play this game but not on this account. this game has almost no story this dungeons and bosses are shit. also, no matter how much I try I cannot find how to dash jump. move in the direction, then press and hold attack, then press jump and let go. no matter how much I try it does not work (I can dash jump but I just press Z and X at the same time and hope for the best.
I'm owner of the PS2-Version, so I score it after my experience with the original Version of the game. However unless the developers added +200% Bonus-Content to the game, then it's a fitting scoring.
YS: the Ark of Naphistim has some points which speak for, but also which speak against it.
YS6 is declared as RPG, but the truth is it fits more into the Action-Adventure section like Zelda or Alundra - with the difference that it lags the puzzling-depth of that games (for example games like Lufia or the Wild Arms-Series have a way way deeper puzzle-depth and are way more genre-connected than YS6 actually is). Also it is a very linear game, which isn't really bad, cause it sticks to the story-telling of the game.
The main flaw of the game is the length: An average person completes it within 2 days on the 1st try. And you can guess that includes the map size as well: If you ignore the tribes village, then you can say that there exists only one small city within the game. The size of the Map sticks to that of the city: actually it should be impossible to miss a single area in that game. The areas are connected to each other like a thread. There aren't many forks on your way through the map.
That sounds bad, but still it's a very nice game. In terms of size it's just not comparable to other RPGs from that era.
I personally like the small city of that game a lot: the design, the npcs within it. In my opinion it's very sad, that the developers kept the game so small in size. Graphically from the sweet, non-overwhelming design (not like FF& Co). from the story-telling it has a lot of potential. It's a very straight game either. Which gives it a fairly good replaying-value. It just simply lags size and side quest content. With side quest content I mean some quest lines which tell you more about the story, area and the world in which it is set in (and not quests like "kill 10 of this, get 20 of that item or kill this or that field boss like in Xenoblade Chronicles).
It's a pretty good role playing game, or to be specific a Japanese role playing game. It's overall a fun game, but there's some thing that I did not like. The game makes you grind for hours just to advance a bit into the story. I tried some trainers to level my Adol up and found out that you could beat the game in less than an hour if you really pass the dialogue. Regardless of that I really liked the game. But there's the issue about there not being enough item diversity. You only get to choose about like less than 10 items are health related issues and like 4 different types of armor per armor type. It's a very home based game, as in it stays in it's own realm, very secluded, which is nice to think about because the whole game feels nice. It's very nostalgic thinking about it afterwards, all the characters you talk to. Also what's up with the pig rabbit thing you pick up before you go the the black tower area, what was that for? Also the little elf girl, Isha, wants to having intimate relations with Adol, I thought they were gonna get married at the end, but then Adol had to leave both the little elf and her big sister, Olha, he could have had some kind of polygamist marriage with both of them, I'm sure Ord would have been more than happy to have Adol to be part of his family. So in conclusion I gotta give the game 4/5 stars. I had to deduct one star because of all the grinding you have to do, and that there's not enough items to collect. Thanks for reading my review, I'm still sad that Adol and Isha didn't get married though.
This game is waiting for a review. Take the first shot!
