+1 star for art and polish

The Good: The art is pretty, the technical performance is polished. The Bad: I've played countless board games. I've played hardcore, casual, war games, economic games, competitive, co-op,and "multiplayer solitaire" games. The Witcher Adventure Game is one of the worst board game experiences I've ever had. It reminds me of a mix between Elder Signs and Eldritch horror in that you're running around the world collecting clues to solve quests and combat is rolling the right symbols to match up. I loved Elder Signs and Eldritch Horror, but TWAG is just boring, pointless frustration. You get a quest worth victory points. The quest takes a certain number of clues that you have to move around collecting. You get 6 possible actions and can perform 2 of them per turn. The kicker is that the game is constantly penalizing you by blocking your actions with wounds (cannot perform action until you rest and remove the wound) or "foul fate" tokens which cause you to draw a punishment card if you perform that action, usually causing more wounds and foul fate tokens. You're forced to fight the area's monster at the end of every turn which inflicts more wounds and foul fate tokens. It's very, very easy to get crippled with an endless wave of these. There can be a powerful monster you cannot defeat wounding you every turn, but you cannot move away because your movement actions are covered in wounds and the foul fate tokens keep piling up. You can't die and start over, there is no safe space to retreat to and recover, so you're stuck in an endless cycle of wounding and resting every turn. There is no interaction between players. Zero. You all just keep rolling every turn until you have enough stuff to win. It's completely pointless and entirely luck driven. I'll usually give games a lot of chances, but TWAG is such a joyless slog of random die rolls and punishment that our group quit both games we tried to play. There are so many better board games out there.

Low interaction highly random boardgame

While I liked the Alpha, I dismissed the game because of major lack of player interaction. You can finish a whole game without any inference from other players, making it a race driven by dice rolls. PI is limited to the off chance of other players adding difficulty to the areas related to your objectives, but it's not unsurmountable. The rest of the core mechanics, hand and resource management is quite good, just poorly framed in a vs game.

Needs a manual

Looks quite interesting. But I would really like a manual with a properly explained example of game session! Short in-game tutorials are nice, but they are not much help when you are just starting to play and don't get the big picture.

a digital boardgame

The game is a lot of fun , Simply put it is a digital version of the boardgame that is also being made. You pick one of four character each with a unique skill that can help them in the game and set out to do a goal, you can choose to do one 3 or 5 goals, at the end the one with the most points wins. Nothing spectacular there. You can use a move action to move to a new town that has collors on them you choose a collor cleu card and if you have an set ammount of collors you get one proof. proof cards can be used for side quests or to finish your main quest , doing side quests grants you points. The thing i dislike about the game is that the rules can be a bit vague and need a lot of trial and error to sometimes get, this might be just the beta i played. I also had some trouble with the match making and how the matches went, some turns take rather long to play out and not everybody is willing to wait the time as the other players do their thing . The game becomes beter when you play wih friends and you can interact with each other via team speak or skype , as i have had several games where not a single word was spoken and for a pvp game that is something i see as a little sin. it is woth the money , well worth it even just get some friends online or try to get people to chat .

Fun Game

I've tested this game in Beta, and I've had some good fun with it. It's an adaption of a board game that works rather well digitally, as the mechanics aren't overly complicated, and you'll get the hang of them pretty much okay after your first playthrough, where you realise what are the important parts in the game. Further on it's then about discovering the optimal gameplay paths that suit your style, and, of course, getting to know all the cards, events, monsters and such in the game. As in any RPG, you get to choose a hero, develop his/her skills, fullfill quests, battle beasts and fate itself, and, of course, receive rewards for all your efforts. Since we're talking board game here, you'll be making a lot of imaginary dice throwing, but at the same time the game has enough depth that you can definitely turn the odds in your favour, either by choosing the correct path through the game or by gauging the position you are currently in, so strategy and tactics do come in play here. You can play the game itself competitively, to beat your opponents in speed of finishing the main quests, but you can just as well play a friendly bout where you travel around the world and do good :-) You can be joined by up to 3 co-players, so you may play anything from a duel to a 4-player match, and when some of the players leave, it's okay, the game won't quit and continues with the remaining heroes (so you can, in the end, play solo). The heroes to choose are Geralt, Triss, Yarpen and Dandelion, witch each having a diverse set of skills you can use, different main quests, and so on, so it's a very unique experience playing as each of these characters (I liked Triss the best). All in all, I recommend this game, but one thing should be noted, and that is, of course, inherent to all board games, so it's not really a "downside" per se - after a time you will discover everything, so it starts to become repetitive, but as I said, this should be obvious from the genre of the game :-)
