great game one of the best flight sims and a great story and a first rate cast like mark hamill and malcolm mcdowell and tom wilson and john rhys davis i cant recommend this gem of a game high enough a must buy in my opinion

This game doesn't feel like something from 1994, this was definitely ahead of its time. The graphics are stellar and the controls feel right. The plot will keep you entertained, and it needs quite a bit of manual reading to get used to the controls and gameplay. Although the missions get a bit repetitive after a while, the combat is always fun and rewarding. You'll like this if you're a fan of spaceships and science fiction drama.

Znów będziemy przemierzać pomieszczenia okrętu dowodzenia i wchodzić w interakcje z członkami załogi, co wpływa na ich morale i zachowanie podczas walki. Czasem nawet rozmowa wpłynie na przebieg misji. Jasne, dziś te filmy nie robią takiego wrażenia (głównie przez niską rozdzielczość) i większość z nich to tylko konwersacje, ale gra aktorska jest niezła a i te ważniejsze momenty fabuły są odpowiednio rozbuchane. Do tego pięknie wyrendeowane przerywniki między zadaniami oraz wątek romansowy i mamy coś niespotykanego jak na rok 1994. To jednak tylko połowa atrakcji. Przecież to jednak kosmiczny symulator i w tym aspekcie również jest świetnie. Oteksturowana grafika 3D, jeszcze lepszy system lotu, walki tak z innymi myśliwcami jak i wielkimi okrętami. Tu też tytuł nie miał konkurencji, wydany w tym samym roku Tie-Fighter graficznie nie miał startu. I chociaż dla mnie modele 3D nie są tak charakterystyczne jak w poprzednikach, tak o dziwo nadal to wygląda ładnie. Misje starają się być zróżnicowane ale wiadomo, że głównie chodzi o rozwałkę. Znajdą też się takie nieuczciwe (skipper missile!), to mnie latało się mega przyjemnie, a poziom trudności można tak dostosować, że każdy powinien sobie poradzić. Uwaga! Nasi skrzydłowi mogą zginać, a my stracić część rozgrywki. Z wad nie potrafiłem zmusić do współpracy xboxowego kontrolera i przerzuciłem się na joystick. Miałem też problemy z dostosowaniem cykli DOSBoxa, albo szarpał dźwięk w filmikach, albo klatkowanie przy większych potyczkach. Skończyło się na przełączaniu między dwiema wartościami. Cała reszta to już sam miód, a ja mam coraz większy szacunek dla sagi Chrisa Robertsa i Originu. To jeden z tych klasyków, które warto sprawdzić nie dlatego, że jest istoty z historycznego punktu widzenia, tylko dlatego, że wciąż świetnie się w niego gra!

I love this game and it was fun playing around 10 first missions, however some of the later (escort) missions are bugged and do not allow you to complete properly, i've tried ejecting but that leads to the losing story line.

Wing Commander III was certainly not the most innovative game, nor a revolution in terms of gameplay. It was however a graphical as well as atmospheric milestone which contributed undeniably to the importance of sci-fi-games in game history. There is one thing about WC3 that I remember passionately: it was one of the first big games that required 8 MB Ram - which was not quite common to have in 1995. So for myself as well as a lot of other players that I knew in the very beginning it remained kind of "dream" to play this game: "Man, I need 8 MB of Ram to finally being able to play WC3". Some time later I finally had to computer to play it accordingly - and I certainly must have played it about 3 times or so. My favorite actor was John-Rhys Davies who gave the game and the atmosphere a very specific and unmistakable note. Noteworthy is furthermore George Oldziey who composed the great theme to this masterpiece. And finally, when mentioning WC3 and WC4 I like to remember Jason Bernard alias Captain Eisen. Unfortunately he died in 1996, a short time after WC4. His memory lives on with these games.
