REUNITE YOUR VIL...
Master the elements in this stealth game where everything burns. Start fires, freeze water, and move earth itself to outsmart superstitious enemies who fear your power. Rescue captive villagers and reclaim your home by turning the environment against the army sent to hunt you down.
REUNITE YOUR VILLAGE
In a world where magic has all but died out, you've been branded a witch by villainous forces who fear your elemental power. Outsmart the superstitious armies of the Arch Duchess as they hunt you through lush forests, deep caverns, and over frozen mountaintops. Find and free your fellow villagers from captivity, then lead them to safety and reclaim your home.
CONTROL YOUR ENVIRONMENT
Throw fireballs to set the world ablaze and terrify your foes. Freeze water to cross impassable lakes, or trap enemies in ice. Move earth itself to grow grass to hide in, or vines to climb and reach new heights. Grow your connection with the elements to learn new abilities, but beware: fire will spread and consume everything in its path – including you!
PLAY YOUR WAY
Creep through tall grass and conceal yourself in smoke to slip by enemies unnoticed - or burn everything in your path to make your foes panic and flee. Use your enemies’ fear against them to create opportunities to slip past, or trick them into their own demise. Wildfire lets you play as a ghost, a pyromaniac, and everything in between.
INTELLIGENT, CHALLENGING ENEMIES
The knights, archers, and trained attack bobcats who pursue you will intelligently work together to hunt you down. They will investigate sound disturbances, communicate with each other, and coordinate to close in on your position. Only by turning your environment against these foes can you overcome their superior strength.
TWO PLAYER LOCAL CO-OP
Wildfire can be played entirely in singleplayer, or in two-player, local co-operative mode on the same screen. Use your elemental powers in tandem with one another to find entirely new ways through Wildfire’s dense, systemic environment.

A couple of hours in and I am really enjoying this game. It is a pixelated stealth platformer with barely any combat and really makes you think like a puzzle game, but with elemental wielding action.
I had an issue with sluggish movement at the beginning, but fiddled with the graphics settings and it sorted itself out. Apparently, the dev is aware and offers these solutions if you have a similar issue:

Wildfire is one of those games where the developers had a bunch of really good ideas, but didn't know exactly how to execute them. At it's core it's a great little stealth platformer where you play around with sight, sound and three of the four elements to complete your objective, which usually consists of finding the end or rescuing people. The music is good, the graphics are beautiful, the animations are lovely. So the presentation is great.
However when it comes to the gameplay, there are a few issues. For example, the optional objectives often clash with each other. There are levels where you have to throw enemies into a crematorium, burning them to ashes, but at the same time you get also get bonus points for not killing anyone in a level. You can reach these milestones in different playthroughs I think, but it's still a little strange, as it seems like a clash of game design, though you could see it also as a "play your own way" type of deal.
However viewing the only the gameplay, it works really well. The AI of the enemies make sense, they act in a predictable fashion (which is way more important than "realistic" AI). You get plenty of ways to deal with them using your elemental powers, although they all feel a little samey, and the levels themselves often tell their own story using notes and environmental design.
The power curve in the game is kind of screwed, you don't get enough levels where you are fully powered and the levels expect that. There is a new game+, which I think is good because you don't get enough levels where you can play fully powered up. The story is neat, but nothing special, it's mostly a vessel to carry the gameplay and push you from level to level.
I can definitely recommend this for fan of stealth games, it's a love letter to those. For everyone else I can recommend it if you're interested in being a witch with elemental powers and want to support a team that clearly cares about the game they make.
This game is sooo captivating, a fact I don‘t experience very often with pixelart games. I usually have one problem: I buy games for their pixelart, which I really adore. But I uninstall them most times in less than an hour, because I am very bad at roguelikes/lites, have no patience and simply not like that genre (this title is NO roguelike). So this title feels very refreshing, you‘ll experience a steady progress and never run into dead ends. Difficulty is well balanced. Pros reach all goals of a level at one try, but you can repeat the level and maybe only concentrate on one goal each time.
WILDFIRE delivers a very good stealth gameplay and adds an interesting elemental magic mechanics to contribute to its fantasy seeting.
Really great game… only thing I didn‘t get so far: why are the bad guys all women?! oO xD
Ever since I played Mark of the Ninja, I’ve been looking for something, anything, to provide that same stealth satisfaction. My attempts to recapture the magic were often in vain, and I’d just find myself again and again just watching YouTube videos on the brilliant design decisions made by Klei in the production of that masterpiece of a game. But finally, in 2020, I found Wildfire. Although developer Sneaky Bastards’ title certainly has a few mechanics that aren’t explained as well as they should be, the game’s plentiful environmental information and variety of supported approaches is very much in the Mark of the Ninja vein. The Witch (the game’s protagonist) feels much like you’d imagine an “elementalist” to feel, and achieving the disparate objectives within each level requires a mastery of each of the fire, water, and earth elements. And the game features a gradual and intentional power curve that allows you to lean into whichever element suits your fancy. Although the game can be completed in a little over six hours, I spent almost four times as long, completing various challenges and enjoying and appreciating this stealth playground.
This is a very competent game I personally found most enjoyable. What did it for me, specifically, were the following features:
* While this is allegedly a stealth game, being brazen and insane is a completely legitimate option
* The various optional goals on each level can be achieved over several different runs, which is great for completionists who also don't hate themselves.
* The autosave feature is so good it feels like some sort of dark magic was utilized to create it. It almost always saved before I somehow messed things up royally.
* Levels are fairly short, which is good if you're a busy person.
* The UI is extremely snappy.
This game is waiting for a review. Take the first shot!
