Generalnie nie lubię strategii. Jednak ta gra jest po prostu idealna. Szkoda że twórcy nie rozwijają już tego uniwersum. Pierwszy i najlepszy RTS jaki grałem w życiu. Polecam bardzo wraz z kuzynem Danem.
I am still learning the game after about 15 hours played.
But it is really fun playing.
In the beginning easy on slow speed was very difficult. And now after learning units and strategies, the same battles that ended in the enemy massacring my armies over and over end int great victories.
A few tips: WC2 has the same units as WC1 and you find most informations about their abilities if you look for the first game in the sequel not the second.
In combat similar to Age of Empires 2 always have your units partrol in. The army will fight far more effective.
There are very tanky units that can not hit flying units. So even a cheap flyer may take them on where you would loose a whole army of ground troops.
Some units do tripple damage to heros, some do tripple damage to dwarfs and so on. Some units can not be hit by arrow towers... There is a lot of knowlegde involved to choose a usefull army composition.
But that makes it so much fun.
And developing the hero adds a whole new layer to this.
And then there are spellcasters and heros casting spells. Which also adds a layer of possibilites.
I also like the base building. You can build all around the map, if you have the ressources.
And the system of ressource gathering by converting mines and increasing production by adding workers is also done well and forces ongoing confrontation.
Runs stable on Windows 7.
But ironmen heros can only be saved in Windows XP and before.
And even though there are some high resolution options, the two highest may result in crashes, if I read this correctly.
But the 3rd worked well enough for me.
I played WBC2 many years ago, after having played Warlords 2 on Mac, many years before that.
The RTS and RPG elements blended perfectly for me. It allowed my preferred style of game play to develop unhindered. My hero was a tank. I could throw him into an enemy base, cause massive damage and then run.
Titans, dragons, heroes... So much to love! I'd definitely recommend this to anyone who wants to try out a great RTS with character progression

I remember when I bought the first game in the series. I had earned my first real sum of money. For one half, I bought Baldurs Gate 2, and for the other half, I got the first game in the series.
Now, why do I write a review for the sequel then? The Original games' blend of RTS/RPG was excellent, and it also had a compelling story where you had to choose light/dark side halfway through the campaign. BUT, the sequel really made the series shine. More races, more skills, classes and units. THe only place where it didn't improve its prequel was the story.
To this day, this is one of those games I cannot even make an estimate of how many hours I've clocked. I've played all races, all classes, with different strategies, and it's just so fun. Now, I am not a great RTS fanboy, mind you, but I am an RPG addict, and this game strikes a good balance. Its' RTS parts isn't so rushed and chaotic as most are (and is why I do not appreciate most RTS games... simply too much micromanaging and clicks-per-minute). And the RPG elements have been given large space. After every battle, your main Hero (you) gains experience depending on how you performed in the battle, and can enhance his or her skills in different ways. On the other hand, you do not want your hero dying in battke, but if you want to excel, you need to get out there, lead your troops, and get experience.
I cannot recommend this game enough. If you can, get the prequel as well, if only for the lore, but this game is not a sequel story-wise.
Oh, and be sure to check out the third game in the series as well. It's not as good aas number 2, but better than number 1.
