Discover the grim dark universes of Warhammer where there is only war. From Warhammer 40,000 to Warhammer Fantasy and more - discover it all on GOG Warhammer Franchise page.
Take control of one of the most technologically advanced armies in the Imperium - The Adeptus Mechanicus. As Magos Dominus Faustinius, you’ll lead the expedition on the newly rediscovered Necron planet of Silva Tenebris. Customize your team, manage resources, discover long-forgotten tech, and control your Tech-Priests’ every move.
Your every decision will shape the missions ahead and ultimately decide the fate of the troops under your command in over 50 hand-crafted missions. Choose your path carefully - the Imperium depends on it.
Augment
Flesh is weak! Upgrade your Tech-Priests with weapons, support items, Servo-Skulls and other mechanical augments as you assemble your cohort. Customize your team’s disciplines, choosing from multiple character classes to create a squad for every playstyle.
Unique Tactical Combat
Engage in immersively strategic combat that will test your mettle under the extreme pressure of the xenos ambush. Access your most powerful weapons and abilities by using Cognition Points and advance on your enemy without pause. Fear not, the Omnissiah favours the brave.
The Library of Immersion
A compelling story written by Black Library author, Ben Counter, specifically crafted to fit the unique personality of the Adeptus Mechanicus faction, with each character having their own personalities and agendas. Feel the tension and admire the devotion with unique visual effects and breathtaking audio.
Difficult Decisions
Make tough decisions that will forge the future from your Ark Mechanicus, The Caestus Metalican, and send you towards alternate endings for a truly unique playthrough. Be warned, however, the more you explore each tomb, the greater the rewards but also greater the threat.
Canticles of the Omnissiah
Collect in-game achievements and be rewarded with strong abilities that can be used once per mission to aid you in the heat of battle.
Pros
Gameplay is decent
Customization is decent
Setting is good
Cons
Levels get repetitive and there are too many.
Story is a boring wall of text.
Events are nonsensically random and promote savescumming. They are "Your solution makes sense but your weapon suddenly explodes for no reason and screws you" kind of bullshit.
Game is easy to break
The "Impossible" difficulty did not help much. By about half game, after upgrading the right skill trees my squad became an exponentially everbuffing shower of death that could get 50 damage buffs and kill everyone on the map (even bosses) in a single round. It became a game of watching my priests' buffing and running animations and i didn't even manage to see what the hardest bosses do besides dying. This really burned me out.
I heard about this game through Mandalore and I was instantly hooked. My favorite Warhammer 40k faction, amazing OST and a genre I very much enjoy.
Gameplay is a turn based strategy. Nothing more, nothing less. Difficulty can be modified to just what you want. After playing for while, you know where to spec your Tech-priests and make an overpowered class so there's a need for rebalancing. Mechanics are fun and well-crafted but there are enough random crits/weapons/ambushes to keep you on your toes. This game has a crazy replayabilty and every run is something new.
Story is intriguing. No spoilers.
OST is so good that I had to buy it, it elevates the atmosphere and is enjoyable enough to be listened outside of the game. Voice acting shocked me in a good way, very creative.
This definitely an easy 5/5. Excellent WH40k game, great game in it of itself.
Bought this game for the music, which was my main draw. Stayed because someone has to wield the flames that purge these filthy xenos from the god emperors universe.
Don't have enough experience with these games to know what to comment on particularly, except for that one little thing called fun, of which I am having tons of.
Also, there might be some OP weapons on Normal difficulty. Looking at you, flamethrower.
I can't stop playing this game. It's got me.
It's technically a roguelike, where you explore the planet full of hostile baddies until they all wake up and overwhelm you.
Unlike most roguelikes, however, you don't die and restart over and over. The challenge is efficiency as you navigate the particular narrative arc you want to explore. If you wake up the baddies too fast, you get a short game.
If you're a hard-hearted bastard scrambling for every bit of advantage you can, a game can last weeks.
And the turn-based combat is amazing. You essentially explore the tombs, collecting advantages or disadvantages as the roguish gods decree, and then you enter a turn-based combat that looks a lot like X-COM, but this iteration rewards aggressive play, and the stakes can run pretty high depnding on just how you've geared your tech-priests.
On top of all of this, the art, characters, and music fits just perfectly. The religious nutjob is a nutjob, so they still don't get religious people, but that's just endemic to 40k. Denial is their thing.
The only complaint is that many of the area-effect weapons have a fixed elevation setting, so gaps in terrain can block targeting and singular targets just slightly above you can't be fired at, which hurts a lot in some situations.
Still, there are a lot of other good weapons, so you can roll with it.
All in all, great game. 10/10
I bought this game not realy knowing what it realy was and a having a friend recommended to me. But man is this a hidded gem of fun, i went in blind winhout any idea of what the game is gona bring to the tabel and let me tell you it packs a punch in terms of fun. def. worth a shot if you love turn base games
