Warhammer 40,000: Gladius - Relics of War

One look at the DLC pack list tells you everything you need to know about how this game is monatized BUT this is a solid game. Civilization but 40k. If you like 40k and you like Sid Myers Civ you'll like this and the most important DLC is actually somewhat fair like faction ones but one unit has a 2 dollar tag on it if you check the list. 3 out of 5 because they're greedy but the product is solid. Get the stuff as it goes on sale for like 50% off and build up the pack peice by peice. This is GOG they do sales all the time.

Very fun, basically a 4xish focused on combat (no culture and certainly no diplomacy victory) the team that made it really seems to love the universe. That said the game is clearly a bit ....low on production value...i recommend you get it on a sale and not at full price.

A unique take on the 40k genre, it is not a RTS like dark crusade and, not a FPS like space marine. It is most closely related to Civ but it has alot more depth going on, where in civ each faction is basically the same with minor diffrences each faction in here plays diffrently from the others. the Orks have to fight to get more units to fight more units but if you stop the fighting then you wont have the units to keep fighting. While the Astra Militarum requires you to plan 20 moves ahead because if you slack of in your industry then your ability to make units starts to grind to a halt. Basically each faction plays diffrently and you need to find your niche to figure out which one you like the best

If you are a fan of 4x games i would definitly recommend this title. It is refreshing to have a 4x title that is mainly focussed on combat. Very fitting for the 40k universe but also gameplay wise it keeps things moving fast, simple but very enjoyable. I played around 3 different races now untill victory and many more untill defeat. This game is challenging! I would recommend turning of quests in the advanced start as these can be even more challening than the enemies and can cause an "alternative" victory or defeat. Which personally i don't like. Lots of customization and the different races also the races in DLC are different enough to keep it interesting playing the various factions. The game runs super fluent and i must say coming from a civ game this will feel very snappy and responsive. From starting up the game to turn by turn, all is very responsive and fast. An overview of all your cities and managing on 1 screen would be a great addition, as this can be a little but of "micromanaging" Definitly recommend the space marines as a first try, they seem to be the easiest to play and managing only 1 city helps aswell

I really enjoy the game. I only wish there were a game mode that mimics dawn of war campaing. That you can conquer maps and gain bonuses and elite troops that you can take to the next battle.
