Very good point&click adventure with interesting story behind it. I had to use walkthrough at few points but overall I think I had enough information to work out puzzles and what to do next. Graphics put me off at first but after few screens I got use to it and start to like it. I think it fits well with the style of this game. Voices of the characters are good and voice over is well done. I did not experienced any major technical problems with the game. Only thing which bugged me was long loading times.
The game is based on an interesting idea (pandemia/conspiracy ) but falls short in a lot of ways. Biggest letdown here are the riddles: they are in general much too easy and the riddle density declines rapidly after chaper 2, Also there is no increase in difficulty as you progress through the game, as it should be in a decent adventure. As a matter of fact, the last chapter has almost no content and can be finished after a couple of minutes.
The story has similar issues: it starts promising and kind of slow (especially chapter 2, which is the most fleshed out of all chapters, does barely advance the story at all ). But is very rushed and predictable towards the end. The few twists it provides are cliche and implausible.
Another thing that annoyed me was the annoying main character. A lot of otherwise good adventure games suffer from an irritating main character and Unforessen Incedents unfortunately is no exception. I guess the developers' intention were to create him as a funny, kind of quirky but still lovable nerd, but in fact Harper ( the main character) is just a totally uncongenial cry baby, that is constantly begging for attention with bad jokes (this is just my personal opinion, maybe you like his humor) .
In total, I cannot really recommand this adventure. It feels more like a student's project, that run out of budget/time after a certain point than a professional game. If you like the art-stlye and enjoy easy adveture games, this one might be worth a shot, when it's on sale, though,
The story is interesting, though it became very cliche and predictable towards the end. I liked puzzles which often require some thinking and perceptiveness. I'd prefer to click an item and then click to use it, instead of dragging items to use. And art style isn't exactly my cup of tea. But overall I liked the game.
Unfortunately, though the game seems extremely charming a few recurring technical issues have rendered it unplayable for me.
There is a bug where certain cutscenes won't end properly, resulting in the game softlocking with no ability to interact or even pause the game. For example, upon feeding the fish in the hotel the cursor and UI disappear to let the fish swimming animation play, then the main character will just stand there gormless and vacant for eternity until I alt-F4 the game.
Another more serious example is the radio puzzle, which upon completion of a less than stellar-controlling knob puzzle, also causes this same softlock freeze. To even pick the game up again I'm going to have to jiggle those knobs to the specific values, which done with a mouse is a bit irritating, and I'd rather not come back through that with yet another softlock.
Very frustrating, I really want to like this game but I can't reccomend it as a result of this.
This game is waiting for a review. Take the first shot!
