UFO - A Real Time XCOM
As an enjoyer of the original XCOM, this is a really nice real time take on the genre - if you enjoy XCOM (OG and Remakes) / Xenonauts / Phoenix Point this is well worth trying out.

Still better than what Firaxis made
I remember I enjoyed this game several years ago far better than the modern xcom reboots. Many people complain the difficulty is too high. It's not it's a part of the story- you're defending the earth against superior enemy for the gods sake! Your soldiers and aircrafts will be dying like flies. The biomass is an awesome idea which gives a reason to the invasion, and makes the game harder on the strategic level in the later game. I don't remember the RT tactical mode caused any real problems, as the events can be set up to pause the game. It felt more natural than the enemy waiting for its turn without any retaliation so the player can wipe out it's units in a single turn. This is the first one in the serie delivered by the Altar Interactive and the best one.

Nothing but awkward combat
I can see a slower, more deliberately paced version of this game filled with abilities and more interesting tactical decisions. UFO Aftermath teases these things, and then devolves into a level of play so basic I became horribly bored after a few hours. There are little issues all over the place: You don't start with the ability to do much on the world map aside from occasionally send your 1 helicopter to missions or your 1 pack of interceptors out to catch UFOs, your soldiers take so long to switch weapons it becomes tactically difficult (and often inefficient) to switch to grenades, your units cannot attempt to peak around walls, I never got the running function to work which is a problem when one of your starting weapons is a shotgun, etc. The issues all together devolved my play into: fast-forward time on overworld until missions pop-up, select 1 to actually do and delegate all the rest while the horribly slow troop helicopter goes off to the selected mission, select all troops and blob-move in missions while slaughtering all foes, mash the space bar to constantly unpause time in response to annoying alerts, maybe use a medkit if a soldier seems low, rinse repeat. I hope the sequels are better.

alternative time line of xcom
i love xcom war whitin but im also loviing the gameplay on this one, the mix of realtime and turn based combat is hipnotic,and the difficulty so far is going up smoothly, ill defntly grab the rest of the games in the trilogy
