It's okay.

The title says all that needs saying. But I'll go ahead and go into detail. First, this game is fairly big. Not Morrowind big, but still a fair size. It has quite a few quests, though they aren't anything out of the ordinary for RPGs. There are factions you can side with, all needing your faith proven before you can be considered one of them. Really, the game has quite a bit of freedom, which I like. However, they did a soddy job on the tutorial. Teaches you things like: how to pull out your sword, click this to attack, and press this to search for loot. That's it. It's sink or swim with this one. Luckily you can download a manual with your purchase The graphics aren't very impressive, and there aren't many different types of enemies to fight. There are plenty of different weapons, armor, enhancements, etc. However, there is also mediocre character customization. I'm not usually one to get annoyed by this, but some might want to fully suit their character to how they want them to look. I couldn't care less. The story is very typical, if somewhat cliche. A sibling is captured and you must rescue her. Yay. I think you already did this quest, says my childhood. The voice acting is alright; there is a variety of voices, but none of them are outstanding in their performances. I don't really like the main characters voice and he sometimes says cheesy one-liners that sound like something The Postal Dude would say before starting a fight. All in all, not a bad way to kill a weekend. The scenery is beautiful, and as long as you don't mind a cliche plot and somewhat lacking controls and combat you should do alright.

Review from view of Mage

Do you want a be a powerful mage? No problem. The question is, why I rate it only 2 stars? Because the game is unbalanced. The magic system use cards spells. If some spell have more cards, it increase a power. But very very little. Also usage of spells is limited to 3 active spells (if I remember correctly). Magic is divided to 4 elemental schools and necromancy. Why game is unbalanced? Mage get few cards on start, and each card is underpowered. Even if they are 10 or more, the power of the cards is very small and you need a 100 cards of one spell to see diference. There is one special card which increase a power one of the magic school by percents. Access for those cards are later in game, and until you not collect enought cards, as mage you are nothing. Poor novice and then a god, nothing between. World is empty, except a enemies and chests which hold some items for make a money for buying a cards, there is nothing to do. There is no joy for exploring (of course, first steps are allways interesting but later, it become boring), because your progress is dependent on buying a cards (from mage guilds). That is another why a game is unbalanced.

One of the best sandboxes ever

I'd been eyeing Two Worlds for a while, but had been turned off by poor user reviews. I'm very glad I picked it up on GOG. A few bullet-points to consider, if you're in the market for a fantasy sandbox: * Two Worlds (TW) runs incredibly smoothly on my off-the-shelf 2007 computer. It may be a newish game, but it loads and plays as effortlessly as other GOG titles. Even the aged Morrowind (Steam version) took longer to start up on my system, which choked on Oblivion. * There's a very large, very pretty world to explore. Oblivion-style wilderness abounds, with towns and points of interest to be discovered everywhere. It IS a bit streamlined, mind. There isn't the obsessive attention to detail typical of Bethesda's games (a dinner table fully set, and you can manipulate each individual fork or napkin). The rooms still look furnished, and as they should, but you can only interact with things that matter in some way, apart from the possibility of exchanging them for money. * The skill system is also full-featured and slightly streamlined. It reminds me of Torchlight's. * The card-based magic system is a lot of fun. It feels like mech customization in Mechwarrior 4, of all things. * The main plot doesn't matter (as it should be for a sandbox). I have no idea what it is, actually, after having spent many hours in-game. * The voice acting isn't as bad as they say it is, but even if it were, you can mute it and read full subtitles instead. Also, you can press the space bar to skip through long speeches. * Fighting is fun, not the chore it can be in other games of the sub-genre. All in all, I find this one of the best fantasy sandboxes I've ever played in. Two Worlds is to Oblivion as Torchlight is to Diablo II + expansions: a streamlined version that keeps to the spirit of the original, and is just as addictive, if in a slightly different way.

A good and originale game

Thisi is a good game, not a masterpiece, but a really good game indeed. It's defined an action rpg, but it's a mix between an action rpg and a real rpg. some element is classical of action game such regeneration of mana and health, or the luck of sleeping. But plot is typical of a classic rpg. Some quest are really beautiful and many of them can be solved without fighting. The plot is linear whit few decisions to take.

A must have for those wishing a world were nothing stands in your way to explore as you wish..be it your own fortune..or ruin as for ad etailed exemenation of the games strengts and flaws when released compaed to its now pached state , I simply suggest reading Anamon's review
