No fog!

I haven't played this since I was 10. I was surprised to find it's actually a satisfying shooter. The enemies gush obscene amounts of blood on every hit, they react to different hit locations. Such as clenching their shoulder. They perform dramatic death animations. Sometimes writhing in agony on the ground. Kill one of the yellow raptors while they're mid leap and they'll tumble and hit the ground rolling towards you. Heads and arms pop off and blood is heard gurgling. Geez what were my parents thinking. This remake fixes the biggest flaw of the original by removing the fog, and the platforming which they've partly helped by adding the ability to pull yourself up by ledges. Making them a bit more forgiving. Turok 2's biggest strength was the amount of weapons and how satisfying they were to use. It's very well worth checking out in this remake.

Ahh memories

When i was around 7 or 8 i always used to play this with my dad we had a race who was faster in ending the game i almost won but he just got one day free from work to win from me and when i said Yesterday that this game is coming back he immediately to bought this game just to get those old memories back the sad thing is that we cant race anymore because he is too old just turned 50 and has really bad eyes so i will just play this with my dad together

Like a Nintendo 1-2 punch this week!

So I just got my Switch and then this landed. Having incredibly fond memories playing this on my N64, I would say this port improves it immensely - and as an FPS it plays well even by todays standards. The main difference is that this feels fast - maybe its my memories but I remember Turok 2 being somewhat ponderous and the framerate was very poor. This simply glides along, fog is gone. Weapons are as satisfying as I remember, though I haven't yet got the Cerebral Bore in this iteration of the game. Yes, this game has weapons you remember the names of. Very satisfied.

Good but not perfect remaster

This is Turok 2 on Nightdive's 64-bit Kex engine. The engine change has some downsides: some new bugs exist that weren't in the original, but they're minor. Let me get right into the big controversies with this remaster (although nobody seems to have made a big deal about them, not many of us OG Turok players left apparently): - You move faster now and can climb ledges. This enables shortcuts that were impossible in the original: on level 3, you can get to the Sacred Eagle feather much earlier now just by jumping. On level 4, you can get to the true warp portal much earlier due to a jump that was impossible to make in the original. And some minor pickups here and there on levels 3, 4, and 6 can now be accessed just by jumping there instead of finding the correct path. - Level 1 unhides one of the distress beacon switches. It also has a subjectively redesigned area made to look more visually impressive. - It removes one enemy: the Skimmer on Lair of the Blind Ones level. In the original it only appears in the pit that leads to the Primagen Key so not a ton is lost. The engine improvements and moddability still make this version the one to play though, no doubt. As for Turok 2 itself, it showcases some of the most genius level design in FPS history. There aren't many I would put on the same level. Certainly NOT Doom. When it comes to secrets, Turok 2 and Serious Sam: The Second Encounter are the most ingenious I've found in the FPS genre. Turok 2 is also famous for its creative weapon design, most notably the Cerebral Bore but its arsenal of 3 melee weapons, 15 guns, and 1 grenadelike weapon is very well balanced and fun to use. It also has the most types of enemies of any FPS game I know of at 32 (33 in the original) not counting the turrets (although still overall less diverse than games like Serious Sam and Doom which have flying enemies and other fundamentally different ones). While not a perfect remaster, both this and the first game are must plays.

Just In Time For My Birthday!

I loved this game immensely on the N64, and I'm loving it all over again with this release! After playing Turok 1's remaster, I was fully confident in NightDive for Seeds of Evil. It runs so nicely with proper Mouse & Keyboard (no more C-Buttons!), the updated interface is a welcomed touch, and best of all, the lack of fog means I can actually see the world of the game beyond a few meters! It's enough of a remaster to give it a solid, modern stability & reliability, and plenty has been left untouched to preserve the classic feel of the game. I've been looking forward to this one for a good while, and I'm happy and grateful for the results. NightDive definitely knows how to handle with care. This has always been an old favorite of mine, due to the exploration of levels, the memorable monster variety, and the plethora of fun weapons! It's because of games like this that made me dislike corridor shooter campaigns where you have 2 or 3 weapons at most. No such limitations for Turok! Where do you keep all those wonderful toys when you don't even have a shirt? Who CARES, it's FUN! That's why these old shooters still hold up.
