The year is 1989 and deep in the sweltering heat of the Mayan jungle, camouflaged among the Inca ruins, Ernesto Cruz catches his breath for a few moments and admires his handiwork, bodies strewn across the temple ruins, as he makes a last gasp effort to board a DEA plane to take him to safety. He never made it home, the tragic victim of an alleged 'overdose’. Two weeks later, Ernesto's son, Ramiro Cruz is hauled out of jail by the DEA to be told his twin brother, Tommy, works for them as an undercover agent and has some new information about their father's death. But, Tommy has had an accident with a hand grenade and now Ramiro must take his brother's place in an undercover operation closing in on the ruthless drug cartel overlord Papa Muerte.
Take control of Ramiro Cruz, a man on a crazy mission through Mexico's drug-fuelled underworld. An amazing combat system keeps the action intense, mixing third person action with an incredible combo system for maximum carnage - and maximum replayability. Hilarious special moves and a huge amount of weaponry makes Total Overdose as frantic and fun an adventure as you could ever hope to find, and a red-hot latin soundtrack fits the action perfectly. This can be the perfect Latino gangsta sandbox game you were looking for all your life!
A rich storyline as it takes you through 18 different environments, from the seedy red light district of Los Toros to the depths of the Mexican desert.
Take down your enemies with a free-style combat and stunt system that gives you more outrageous moves than you can shake a hot chili at.
Meet über-cool characters and take part in missions with a strong whiff of tequila.

This game is literally an over the top version of Max Payne & El Matador!! Then throw a bit of the Once Upon a Time in Mexico / Desperados movies into the mix and you have Total Overdose.
You have jumping machine gun combos in real time or slow motion. Characters are way OTT and the script is just plain nuts. Action game that is thick and fast with gun play in every sense of the words.
If you like old skool 3rd person shooters then Total Overdose should be right up your street. You play as an ex criminal turned Drug Enforcement agent and sent by your brother to a small Mexican town to find out who killed your father.
You have a standard mission structure for the story but there are also additional side missions available to make money and lets you free roam a bit.
Well worth getting if you want a no brainer 3rd person shooter.
The game has a very unique style to it. While some free-roam games you know seem to take the more serious route, Total Overdose goes in the complete opposite direction with Mexican Wrestlers, Guitar Machine guns and TNT. You can shoot, blow up, destroy and massacre your way in the most ludicrous manor of ways in Total Overdose! While the story isn't the best, it still has some very memorable moments in it. The combat is fast, fun and exciting as you fly through the air mowing down enemies with a huge variety of weapons, and using several special abilities that enable you to go on an insane rampage for a short period of time.
If you like dumb shooters or like games that don't take themselves too seriously or like blowing up mexicans with a mexican wrestler by your side, you should look into this game!
Saints Row was not an attempt to copy the Grand Theft Auto series - it had far more in common with the excellent Total Overdose. Just an all out fun game where blasting away the bad guys is stylistic and remains fun straight through til the end. For 5.99 you bet that this is a great buy.
I spent so much time playing this game when it first came out. It's the only game that I've ever played the demo and gone straight out to buy.
Firstly, though, I can't really recommend it if you're after a GTA game. The open world bits are probably the worst part of the game. The physics and car handling are a bit janky, and while there is some fun to be had, overall the open city doesn't do a whole lot for the game.
It comes into its own once you're in a mission, though. Running up walls, sliding down poles, taking out enemies with your car door before leaping from the vehicle for a few more slow-motion kills... this is a really fun game.
The controls are obviously console-centric, but they work well enough on a PC.
Graphics were never the game's strong point, with simple models and textures. Cars, people and buildings appear quite abruptly while driving around the open city.
The writing is fairly cheesy, and you'll often be groaning rather than laughing at the jokes.
But despite all the possible negatives, the gameplay itself is so joyously over the top and fun that I just couldn't help but love the game. The soundtrack is excellently matched to the gameplay, too.
Overall I can't help but recommend this game. It's nothing but fun. If you've still got a PSP lying around, I'd also recommend trying to find a copy of "Chilli Con Carnage", a sort of re-telling that removes the weaker aspects of "Total Overdose" and delivers a tighter overall experience.
Have you ever wanted a game combining Max Payne, GTA, with a pinch of Prince of Persia, Robert Rodriguez's movies, acrobatic moves and non-stop action? You are in the right place.
Okay, let me start with the obvious – the graphics. They are bad, even in 2005, when the game came out, they were ugly. Other not-so-good thing is the sound design, especially the guns. But the soundtrack is amazing, a mix between rap and metal.
And speaking of guns, you have decent variety, nothing new there. But AK47 and M16 are kind of useless. Most of the time, when I have bullets, I used pistol and rifles, 'cause they were more effective, especially for headshots.
The map of the city isn't very helpful, it show icons where to go. Fortunately there is a menu in the game for quick access to the missions.
The best thing in Total Overdose is the gameplay. It may not be entirely original, but is functional and fun. In the beginning, I mentioned, that the game borrows a few things from other games. Let me explain. In TO you have adrenalin bar, for slowing down time and more accurate shot, just like Max Payne. But the dev put here something a little but different in that formula – the acrobatic moves. Not only they look cool, but they have a purpose – to gain more points. The points have their purpose. At the end of each mission, depending how much you score, you can get some goodies, like dual wielding, more ammo, more life, loco moves (more for them later) and others.
The dev obviously took inspiration from GTA with the open world and the car stealing. Between the standard side mission, you have few somewhat original. When you see red skull, go through him and you will enter in the “Day of the Dead” For a short period of time you have to defend yourself from people dressed like skeletons. This way you make a lot of points. Also you have the ability to rewind time, just like PoP.
I mentioned Loco moves. They ar are seven abilities that can help you a lot. My favorite is the pinata.
The story is okay, the voice acting is okay, with few exceptions. Our hero Ramiro is wise cracking and have some good one-liners in his sleeve.
The biggest problem with this game is, it doesn't offer a lot of new things. Loco and acrobatic moves are not enough. This is the third time I play it and the thing which make me comeback is the insane, silly action.
This game is waiting for a review. Take the first shot!
