Tomb Raider: Legend

This is another fun addition to the roster of TR games. The story is fun, Lara is a badass, and the gameplay is engaging. My only gripes are the presence of QTEs, which I've never liked, and the somehwat heavier combat focus. Still, if that didn't stop me from loving TR2, it won't stop me here either. Highly recommend.

Tomb Raider Legend is a fantastic nostalgia trip for me as the 2013 TR reboot was the game that brought me in contact with that medium even before playing myself. Of there's one thing I cannot stand in the older TR games it is this "anti-sprint" when pressing on Shift and she gets slower. But after reconfiguring the keys and getting used to it, this isn't a too overapering mechanism in this game. Actually having to wait until you jump when she does a flip though was a welcome change up from todays standards. The worst and most frustrating thing though was the stiff camera during the bike sequences. They can be a lot of fun but when I am nearly not able to move the camera behind her it gets quite frustrating in some scenes. The same goes for some jumps or climbs when the steering isn't fluent enough to perform the actions like intended or the camera makes a 180degree flip and you can fall off due to the confusion. Pushing crates can also be quite annoying, as Lara doesn't push straight but always has a slight sway to the sight. It is probably the easiest to drag them to a certain point and then turn and try to manover it to the exact location. And I've had several crashes and freezes. One time I had to replay the level twice, because it crashed bevore the point it froze last time. But then it luckily worked. This is of course massively fruatrating, but I am happy that it still works. Storywise and as of writing, this is the usual somewhat overnatural but quite intriguing hunt for ancient artifacts. This Lara is by far the "coolest" and most chill I have encountered. It fits perfec here. Though the best Lara is and will ever be herself in Rise of the TR. -The owls approve.

this game introduced me to the tomb raider saga back when in 2010 and now i've finally replayed it kind of a shame that it doesn't last that long, the worst part about it is how clunky the climbing feels and the camera angles randomly turning and making you jump into the void

Played this gem on the console back in the day and had a huge hit of nostalgia, thanks to the gog good old game programme ive been able to play this without any issues on my pc! Love the game and has made me tempted to buy the others.

Generally speaking, you're either a fan of Tomb Raider games, or you're not. This is your pretty typical split between combat and platforming sections with a bold line between them: You'll almost always either be in fight or platforming mode. Overall however, the platforming is the attraction (as it should be). While combat is decent for a game of this time period, there is rarely any need to use the new fancy moves and instead you can largely rely on your starting pistols and staying at range for most of the game. If you're already a TR fan like I am, absolutely pick it up. If you're not and looking to try the franchise, there are better installments.
