Better than most AAA slop
There's an awkward dissonance between this more sympathetic portrayal of Lara, and the fact genre tropes and her pedigree demand mass murder at a scale that puts 80's Arnie or Chuck Norris to shame. Looking at classic Lara through the eyes of the reboot, you conclude that she turned into a glamorous monster, apparently without self-awareness. Maybe this subversion was intended; more likely it's a result of compromised design. (haven't played the sequels fwiw) Gameplay was alright. Gunfights are a bit loose and drag on without being very challenging: I was grateful whenever I could stealth-lite through them. Would've been much improved with fewer, but more difficult and unpredictable enemies - but I suspect bullet sponges were chosen to pad out the experience. Plot's cool (if improbable) and I admire the decision to hold back the really wild stuff til the end. Exploration's some of the best out there and the gameplay peak. Puzzling's braindead - especially the optional dungeons, which I was hoping might be closer to classic TR challenge, but amount to pressing a couple of things, solvable in a couple of minutes (!). Achievements aside, there's no reason to do the collectathon once you've beaten the game. You should stumble into enough resources to get the fun skills and weapon upgrades anyway, so forget it tbh. I'm sure this all comes off negative, but it's overall an enjoyable game and sympathetic character so, buy on sale ay

Well worth purchasing again
Tomb Raider Game of THe Year Edition iis well worth a secondary purchase. The controls are well optiomizedf the graphics are still wonderfully balanced. Bundled as the Game of The Year edition is a wonderful charm. It's an all in one edition which for sales prices provides commitment to fgan purchases. Controls are jhust as crisp and responsive, the sound is every bit as detailed, and the over all pacjkage of cosmetics and comprehension was where it had gotten better not just with age but the all in one premise.
