great game! please more of that!

Positive aspects: - Very good and exciting story. - Funny and witty humour. - Balanced puzzles, not too hard, not too easy. Also, the difficulty level is adjustable. - Well-done retro pixel art look that surpasses any "original" (colours, animation, effects) and still looks authentic. Of course you can see the big difference when you compare Thimbleweed Park directly with Maniac Mansion & co. - Very good and fitting soundtrack. - Great voice acting. - Lots of fun pop culture references and easter eggs (games, movies, series). Negative aspects: - Ambivalent ending - Complex and confusing at times due to many playable characters. (However, I don't really want to miss any of the characters). - Retro is nice, but by now adventure games could be controlled more comfortably. Verb icons are a bit too 1980s for me. All in all, it's a great game that I really enjoyed as an old adventure game veteran. I really hope we'll see more great games like this from Ron Gilbert and Gary Winnick in the next few years!

Amazing..

There is nothing much to say, but what a GEM.. I have never at first glance been thrown back to the 80s instantly, and looking at the developers behind the game, your answers are quickly answered why. Is that has an amazing dialogue, humor and TONS of references to that decade.. Buy it, you wont regret it..

Good old point and click style

We are back to the 80s, the golden age of adventure games! If you liked titles such as Maniac Mansion, Zac MacKraken, Indiana Jones and the last crusade and Monkey Island, you have to try this game. Thimbleweed Park brings together hilarious characters, great humor, mystery, memorable references to the culture of the 80s and a surprising ending.

They still make them like they used to

A brilliant blast from the past. If you like adventure games, particularly those from LucasArts heyday, pick this up. It's quirky, funny, and fantastically well paced.

Niche game but an excellent one

Great humor even from the secondary characters, delightful voice acting, plenty of fun easter eggs too. I found the mysteries behind some of the characters as interesting as the main plot. But there's also a fair bit of metahumor about the adventure games genre that people new to it won't get or might find annoying. The game doesn't get quite bogged down in it, but it can be offputting if it's not your thing. Controls worked well with some very minor hiccups regarding selecting actions. Nothing that should interfere with a player's enjoyment of the game.
