Its Not Great

This is still in development so it is difficult to know what is a work in progress and what is simply poor design... As it stands, 20 rounds is not enough to clear even the tutorial of a dozen squares, let alone something like the second mission which had around thirty. Now I don't like timers to begin with, but a timer which is not even sufficient to encompass the objective forcing you to accrue penalties regardless of how well you perform is a non starter. Each individual party member consuming a potion/spell out of combat hits the counter? Really? When I can use them during combat and lose nothing? What half baked horseshit is this? In a game like this, on maps these, you want to encourage people to explore and immerse themselves in the game not rush through it and miss things. If they want more of a challenge make timers optional and see who elects to use them. Few I bet I prefer not to camp or rely upon consumables but this is the sort of game where you really don't have a choice. Fine. Camping, however, doesn't seem to return any health even when burning incense for a bonus and worse it did not give me any of my abilities back...Why do it then? Its another game game where you can recruit a constraining number of people but never field enough of them to have any sort of advantage. OK, I get it, balancing a game is hard, and if your focus is squad based tactical skirmishes you don't want people bringing a company to overwhelm your challenges. That is fine, but give the other people players recruit things to do. Make it the players choice to determine how many people they can field within their camp and give them competing desires. If they have 12 people, make then choose to split people between, say, scouting the vicinity for reinforcements/patrols/watchmen/ambushes, rearguard over the horses/wagons/valuables/provisions, prepping a field hospital to receive wounded from the expedition. If they want to send in everyone, fine, let there will be consequences Ugh

Rock Solid

This game has a rock solid foundation for this team of two devs to build on. You can tell that they're making the kind of game that they themselves want to play. It's like a combo of XCOM (without the janky RNG), Darkest Dungeon (but with a movement-based positional combat that allows you to flank and use the battlefield against your enemy) and Battle Brothers (but with legs). And I don't just mean physical legs, but the legs of an engrossing story that provide the rhyme and reason for the battles and form a bond with your companions. There is such a good foundation here that they could build upon for quite a while, with many placeholder systems that, when fleshed out, will make this game a classic if they continue on this path. The Roadmap for this year looks great and I hope the dev posts it to the store page soon. Highly recommended, these devs deserve you giving their game a chance.

Great TRPG

It can get pretty easy, if you level with random quests, instead of following the storyline, so evaluate often, if the fights are challenging enough. The main font that is used for longer text passages is very hard to read. The glyphs themselves are fine, they look distinctive, its the kerning, the spacing of the font - some letters even look wider apart then a space character. Otherwise the artwork is very cool, mature pixelart, there are lots of classes, their unique pools of skills, which you can customize further with specialization points, theres lots of items and tons of content with an overarching story full of treason, friendship, family and dragons (which is pretty nice so far, its also written pretty well). Id give it 5 stars, its just that the font is not letting me enjoy the awesome writing...

Good game, give it a try

First of all Game is really good. I ran it via Lutris. and played on Soldier difficulty (i am the type of player that hates punishing gameplay - like Darkest dungeon) On plus Plot is good - gave me nice pull to resolve Blue guards (my company name) predicament Music and art is good, World feels alive (except that Tower near starting city and mothers all around having sorcerer kids in need of rescuing, got scared when my mercenaries got grey hair [good job!]) Legendary relic quest chain Classes and jobs - good variety (maybe even too much because I never hired balladier) and interesing skill Combat is ok. I have issues that are explained in minus section My Game sessions tended to be long during which i was having fun On minus: So much reading - would appreciate if someone read it at least main quest line and that guy that has agreement with demon and sends my company to die in dungeon. So much leveling late game - i skipped a lot of it. During accepting quest i have no idea where on map the city is. Skills cannot be swapped during dungeon and the only intel i have before launching party is 1-2 enemy type without showing its strength/weakness Dungeon modifiers are only negative - and often 1st one i got was removing my evasion and attacks of opportunity [WTH game!] Combat even on soldier difficulty can drag on forever - would be better if skills dealt less damage than normal attack but helped position/buff better - had 2 good uses of valkyrie taunt skill throughout entire game often i switched to skills to finish fight faster and have better accuracy.

Great game!

I love this game so much. Yes it can be hard and very punishing, but it is lot of fun in the same time.
