The Expanse: A Telltale Series Deluxe Edition

My only real negative mark against the game is the use of quicktime events, I have always found them to be unimmersive. The game itself looks and runs fluidly, the soundtrack always keeps you in the moment. The story, though short, is told well.

Some aspects of the narrative felt a bit meager. Not bad, but also missing drama an density. But there are a couple of great scenes for sure. And it sure helps if you've seen/liked the series. The game is a nice credit to Drummer, and for a good reason, but still, the series original is the best version for me. I did not mind that the game was short - time is sparce for me - but I would still recommend to buy it on a good discount.

Pros: - Great story - Memorable characters with distinct personalities - Replayability - Clearly indicates when a decision will impact the story - Fantastic voice acting - Beautiful graphics - Exceptional motion capture of facial expressions and body movements - Great sound effects, ambient sound, and music - There's no difference in quality and realism between cutscenes and gameplay - Configuration option to set how long you have to react to QTE's with no time limit being an option - QTE settings can be changed at any time - Easy to use and intuitive controls when using a controller - Good balance of cutscenes, exploration, puzzles, and QTE's - Clearly communicated objectives with compass pointer to make clear where you need to go - Puzzles are logical and are easy enough that they don't slow down the pace - Stable. No crashes or bugs - Consistent 60 fps @ 1920x1200 resolution on max graphic settings - Runs smoothly on modest hardware. My hardware specs are the following: > Intel i5-8400 2.8 GHz > 16GB RAM > 2TB solid state drive (SSD) > NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER Cons: - A little short for the price, but the kind of quality listed above doesn't come cheap - Keyboard controls are not good

This game fits very well into Expanse universe. It has a solid story and fantastic voice acting. No gravity movement is great. You need to remember though that it is a typical telltale game - most of the story is set and you take (usually) some minor decisions (of course pretending to be big ones). As for the cons - the game is very short and you cannot save freely. I had to leave at one point and then retrace 10 minutes from the last checkpoint. Overall, I would recommend it for Expanse and/or telltales fans.

Read the books, watched the show. Doesn't disappoint so far!
