296 mods WORKING- TY GOG and mod authors

Skyrim is a fun open world RPG. Mods help make it awesome. My build includes the following: - Mod Organizer 2 - SKSE - SkyUI - RaceMenu - PapyrusUtil - Papyrus Extender - Proteus - JContainers - Nemesis - CGO - Ultimate Combat - Ordinator If you aren't sure about making the switch from Steam, you can try things out without wrecking your classic 1.5.97 build. Run the Steam and GOG versions of the game next to each other with MO2. Make a couple of profiles and swap out the managed game paths in the settings. Then set up a separate SKSE executable in the main panel, and you're good. Thanks for getting Skyrim on GOG. I'm so happy that I don't have to run Steam and that I may never go through another Skyrim update again.

Timeless

The major criticism of Skyrim is that it is "dumbed down". I suppose this was the same criticism Oblivion received after Morrowind, and that Morrowind received after Daggerfall. I suppose this is true in a technical sense. But this game can't be boiled down to the relatively mundane skill-trees and attribute choices. Those are only a small part of a great RPG. Like an Elder Scrolls games, the goal is to give you a massive canvas to live your own fantasy life. This has been true since Arena, and Skyrim does not deviate from this. Join guilds, chop wood, cook, marry, adopt children, live as a vampire or werewolf, complete every quest or murder every NPC you can find. All set to Jeremy Soule's timeless soundtrack, hitting it out of the park for the third time in a row. Skyrim can often be seen as a running joke. The memes, the jank, the way the radiant AI causes NPCs to act. But this is also all part of the reason it still resonates after all these years, we most people reading this review are buying it for the 4th or 5th time (and hopefully the last). There is something about The Elder Scrolls that scratches an itch nothing else can really replicate. The reason they keep selling new versions of Skyrim is because people are drawn to it like few games that have ever been released. And now it's on GOG. Enjoy sinking another 200 hours of your life into it again, everyone.

Well another platform, another purchase.

Yes its Skyrim, Yes its drm free and finally....its mine literally own skyrim on every platform its been released on and im glad to buy it again, well im off to 100% the achievements.

Mods are a big deal for Skyrim

All the talk about no v1.5.97 on Gog...duh...this is not v1.5.97 it's a DRM free version. Anything that is inserting a dll is broken until the mod creator upgrades their mod, i.e. using SKSE64. They can't rollback to 1.5.97...because that version has DRM and is linked to Steam, so calm down until the Mod developers have upgraded.

Careful, mod problems

This version is a mess. Not working with a lot of mods. Issues with Racemenu, SKSE and SkyUi. Not a good idea to buy unless you don't want to mod it!
