The Curse of Monkey Island™

I have been waiting for you to rerelease this here for some time. One of my favorites in the series. I stll have the cds of this game but in this day and age computers have so much hard drive space and discs can wear out whereas digital copies are installed completely on the hard drive and you don't have to wait for the cd to load. Anyway enough rambling about that. This game is great it has the same witty dialogue and gameplay as the others in the series. When this first came out this was a huge change in graphical design for the series as the first and second were pixellated and this one is in a cartoony style but it fits for this series. Also this is the first one that gave all the main characters iconic voices. They were so iconic they brought back the people that voiced them to do the voices in the Secret of Monkey Island and Monkey Island 2. Let's also talk about the voice acting of secondary characters one of particular note is Alan Young I don't need to tell you what character he plays in the game it is instantly recognizable to anyone who watched Ducktales growing up. Anyway enough rambling buy this game now if you still have the discs buy it again cause like I said discs can wear out.

The Curse of Monkey Island is my personal favorite game of the series. From its visuals to its soundtrack, writing, voice acting... Everything is perfect and just works so well. Puzzles are challenging but never impossible to solve. The game also has some of the best humor in the series. A definite must play for anyone interested in good adventure games

This was my introduction not just to LucasArts, not just to point and click adventures, but to gaming. What an introduction too! There's a good reason this game has been so high on the votes for so long, it's a classic, even coming close to surpassing the cult following the original has. This is a sequel that manages to capture everything you loved about the original while delivery its own unique flavor. Dominic Armato as Guybrush was an amazing find, this being the first time he voiced Guybrush ever in the series. The cartoony art style is a perfect fit for the franchise and to this day has aged well. Even the puzzles are a lot more memorable and less head-scratching (although GOG has graciously supplied a strategy guide with a really creative way of writing a walkthrough that tells the whole story of the game through Guybrush's perspective journal-style). Most importantly, this game has some of the most memorable characters in the series (you'll never see the name Murray the same way again). Incredible music with a funky Caribbean vibe, hilarious dialog, the list goes on. It's a highlight of LucasArts Golden Era and an experience not to be missed by any gamer.

The Curse of Monkey Island is an outstanding game in the genre, and in fact, in all of gaming history. A new direction taken by LucasArts at the time led to a different feel and control scheme from the first two games, which works so well and so much more intuitively, and the introduction of full voice acting really makes this stand out. Stunning graphics that still look great today means it doesn't feel at all dated like many other LucasArts games, and a great sense of humour will amuse you from start to satisfying finish! Really worth picking this game up and giving it a go if you've not already, and even if you know it well the ability to run it smoothly without SCUMMVM is well worth it too!

I asked for this, and GOG answered. They went and got it. Bless their hearts. Still the most hilarious game in the whole industry, you haven't played 4th wall breaking insanity 'til you've played Curse of Monkey Island. Once again, the hapless Guybrush Threepwood is saving the world from ghost pirate LeChuck (Although Elaine is more than likely to kill him this time). With pirate barbers, insult sword fighting, duelling banjos and of course The Demonic Talking Skull Murray, this is as fresh and relevent now as it was 20 years ago. _Murray: "I will sride through the gates of hell carrying your severed head!"_ _Guybrush: "Stride?"_ _Murray: "Alright then, ROLL! Do you have to take the fun out of everything?"_ Unbeatable.
