Long time ago, a friend of mine suggested me to buy and play The Cat Lady. It took me a little while but it was worthed. Damn!, this game was a total blown to my head. The story its steady thought-provoking feeling turns into an addictive immersion. Also the soundtrack was outstanding, creating an unique atmosphere.
I also would like to thank the developers for mentioning that song performed by Jeff Buckley, I decided to search it as I never listened to it before...and nowadays, it has become one of my favourite ballads.

The Cat Lady is a incredible and amazing yet depressing and sad point n click horror game. It's a game I recommend playing in smaller doses (preferably one chapter at a time with breaks between) as it can be quite tolling due to the nature of the game's themes and subjects.
What makes the game are the characters and the story. Following the story of Susan, her meeting with Mitzi and their adventure together trying to find the Eye of Adam is really fun to follow and their friendship is very beautiful. Every chapter (seven in total) is unique and there's not really anything that drags the game out.
This game is definitely recommended for both point n click and horror fans out there! It's very much psychological horror, although it does have its fair share of gore, murder and even some jumpscares. It's a great game, that's all.

I absolutely loved it through its faults. There was one or two sections that didn't add much and some of the voice acting and sound quality could have been better.
I recognize it was never meant to be a game for everyone or a game with extensive replay value. But if you are interested in games as an art form and would enjoy a mature emotionally resonant story, I think you'll find that The Cat Lady will make for a satisfying and memorable experience.
I can name very few games that stuck with me in the same way as The Cat Lady. I played this game years ago, am currently replaying for the first time, but it's incredible to me how much of it I still remember. The story has been praised through many of these reviews, so I'll just say it is one of the more mature and nuanced explorations of depression, friendship and loss I have seen in any medium, let alone gaming. The writing is brilliant an affecting, and the narrative grips you all the way through.
Other parts of the game are equally impressive. The art style is really astounding, and several images and sequences have stayed with me since my initial playthrough. The use of color alone is worth the price of admission. The voice acting (with a couple glaring exceptions) is also really great, and the main characters come across as believable and relatable despite the extraordinary circumstances they encounter. The puzzles strike a great balance, being both challenging and logical.
Issues I have with the game are mostly related to its likely shoestring budget (while the voice acting is great, the quality of recordings are pretty poor), and one specific sequence that seems explicitly built to tie the game to the developer's next game Downfall but feels out of place and superfluous. The level of gore and disturbing subject matter will also be too much for some, although the content warnings are super clear about this. But overall I cannot recommend this game enough to anyone who enjoys story-driven games made for adults, as the emotional resonance of this experience is really something to behold.
I'm not a big fan of this type of game. Puzzles usually do nothing but annoy me. With that in mind, I, too, have no clue why I bought this a year or two ago. But, it was in my backlog and a few days ago, I decided it would be my next game to play. I knew the type of game this was before I started so I followed a walkthrough from beginning to end.
That being said, I loved this game. The atmosphere and all that contribute to it (art, music, graphics) is fantastic, the voice acting is more hit than miss, and the story was great and kept me glued to the game for the time that I played it.
If you like these types of point-n-click puzzle adventure games, then you will probably love this. If you don't like those types of games, I still recommend you buy it! Just be sure to have a walkthrough handy.
